Greetings to all:

We'll the mother in law finally wants to visit. I've gathered the basic documents but what I'm wondering is what the US Consulate Guangzhou really want's to see. Here is what I'm thinking:

  • Bank Statments - show Finanical tie to China
  • Maybe some mail with current address showing her residency ?
  • Pictures of her with friends and son and in-laws who still live in China?
  • Invitation letter from us
  • Any other thoughts or ideas?

We'll that is my basic list for now... From what I've been reading once we submit her on line visitor visa application it is about 30 days before her interview, sound right?

Thanks again and I appreciate any and all suggestions.

Dan

Her ties need to be things that she can't easily walk away from. An employment contract and home deed are good. Having a child living in China is good, if he is unmarried still living at home even better. If she is single that may be difficult to overcome but not impossible. If she has visa stamps showing she has traveled to other countries thats a plus also. An invitation letter is always a good idea in my opinion.

Make sure she has all her identification with her, passport and ID card.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!
