I'm sure you all are tired of rookies :) but it is already helping me a lot to read all these different cases and to know I'm not alone on this heart aching long process... Im from Portugal and my husband to be is from Texas. He is truly the man of my dreams and he always makes me smile. I cant wait to start our life... This waiting is terrible! We Skype and text every single day but... You know what I'm talking about :) Planning the wedding makes me feel closer and that time is going faster! But sometimes I completely panic because I don't know how much longer will I be without him! It's like putting my life and happiness on hold! so right now I'm still on initial review! Package was received June 5th... Anyone applied close to this date ? :) And to the veterans, how long this initial review will take ?? Thank you!!!

Uggh!!! I know what you mean. Our journey has just begun too! We got our NOA1 on June 12th. I know its a long process. Work, kids and planning a wedding does keep me busy. I am so sick of Skype at this point and I've got a long way to go! I can't wait until Ian is home and I swear Im NEVER gonna turn skype on again. We have a trip planned in September, we figure that gets us 3 months passed since we filed. Hopefully it holds us over as after that neither of us will have vacation time for a while after that. I wish VSC would speed it up but as of now it looks like its processing really slow! GOOD LUCK!!!!

Welcome to the forum

:guides:

BTW, your initial I-129F petition was sent to the Dallas Texas lockbox facility, not the Texas Service Center. The lockbox facility sorts and send the petitions to the either the Vermont Service Center (EAC) or the California Service Center (WAC) for adjudication. You can easily determine which service center has your petition by looking at your receipt number on your I-797C, the number will be preceded either by a EAC or a WAC. You need to change your profile and timeline to the correct service center for your statistics and time frame to be relevant.

Now you can sit back and relax during the 4-6 months waiting for I-797 (NOA2) approval notice, assuming that the petition has no problems and is approved by the USCIS adjudicator. Then the process continues at the Department of State for more processing.

:guides: to get an idea of the length of the total process.

The general recommendation is to NOT make ANY definite wedding plans or reservations or deposits until you have your visa in your passport, and your passport in your possession. There are far to many possible delays, that may necessitate a change in a wedding plans.

Good luck on your visa journey.

Hi ! Thank you for the information A&B ! I just talked with my love and yes, it's at Vermont :) i

You are most welcome.

You will have plenty of time to become acquainted with the site and the great wealth of information that is the culmination of the visa journeys of many people before you. The various FAQs, Guides and various threads contain answers for the majority of questions that you may have about the process.

BTW, you still need to change your profile filing location from the Texas Service Center to the Vermont Service Center..... then, you will be on your way from a newbie to a regular member.

Please keep in mind that this entire process is not a sprint, but a marathon. We are now 7-8 months into the process and now fully appreciate the perseverance that is necessary for success. Do not despair, there are many of us on the same visa journey. Skype is indeed wonderful, so are visits. This process can be hard on a relationship. However, we have decided to use this process as a project that we are working on together as a team and it has helped us grow closer. Continue to gather information/evidence showing that you have an ongoing relationship. Try to avoid :clock: , it can drive you crazy. Check out the step-by step K-1 visa guide for more information.

Happy trails.....

Save all of your receipts, itineraries, boarding passes, passport stamps, etc. from all of the trips that both of you make to see each other. That is the kind of evidence that you need to present at the interview, as proof of an ongoing relationship. Check the Guides for more info.

To change your profile stuff:

Go to Settings -> Profile -> Change Profile Settings

Scroll down and see where Texas Service Center is selected, use the drop-down menu and select Vermont Service Center, save, and you should be done. I think that should do it, it has been awhile since I have looked at that. Perhaps other forum members have a better way, and will comment......

Enjoy your time together. The end result of this whole process makes it all worth the effort.

Good luck.
