Hi, sorry for this question since it is probably obvious and stupid but I just wanted to make sure..

When we are entering the US we are going to bring a copy of my husbands return ticket to Chile to help prove that he is returning home and will only be on vacation...But I am a little confused if we can just print out his itinerary that says he has a return flight on such date or if we should be asking the airline to print out an official return ticket right then when we check in??

Sorry, I feel ridiculous asking this question but I just want to make we have the right thing just in case they ask for it..

Thanks again!

No problem - not a stupid question.

These days you get a receipt from the airline company and you receive an e-ticket that you print.

Just print out the e-ticket that you get in your email and that will be enough. Here is a sample of what an e-ticket look like

Just the proof that you have the ticket is fine. The online itinerary should be fine or an "e-ticket" if your airline offers it

Does he have a tourist visa? If so then he must have satisfied the embassy that he will return. The question is will he be allowed entry into the USA. Having the info as you explain it may help but as you know this can easily be changed so may be meaningless to the officer as proof of anything. It does shows his intentions so could be helpful but he may want to be ready for some simple questions as well.

His return should be determined after the POE because it is there that the length of time her can stay in the USA is decided. Many times this can be up to 6 months. If its only a few weeks vacation he could tell them thats all he needs and they would determine about how long they would allow. Doing that should be proof enough to allow them to grant entry.
