Filed on June 26. Son is due Sept 12. Can I get my husband here on time to see his son born? We are praying to God it's possible. We have offered plenty of valid expedite criteria both in the medical department as well as in the financial. We are hoping the people over in Chicago have a heart and push this through quickly.

If smart people would stop doing stupid things, the USA might be easier to enter. Will they ever learn? Probably not!

What did you cite as reason for expedite? We expedited on humanitarian grounds. It was approved and got NOA2 30 days from NOA 1. In total, with the expedite, from NOA1 to interview took 5 months, with the visa issued 2 months after interview... so in total 7 1/2 months start to finish. Even with an expedite, september seems unlikely. The NVC process can take 2 months give or take, scheduling an interview- 1-3 months after that. Also, men from MENA countries have a high chance of AP, which can take a year or more

The people in Chicago do not expedite decisions. That decision will be made by appropriate personnel at the service center in California or Vermont (depending on which one your file is routed to).

Can I get my husband here on time to see his son born?

Extremely unlikely.

It is very unlikely based on what you said. You mention medical reasons, what are those? A healthy pregnancy is not reason for expedite.

Bye: Penguin

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

You filed June 26 as in, you mailed the I-130 and you're waiting for the NOA 1 or just received it? If that's the case, impossible. It's not happening, period.

Pregnancy isn't reason for expedite. And even if they expedite it may take long for NVC to give you an interview date within the next 2 months. Not to mention, AP is almost a given for every MENA man. My fiance took 2 weeks, if that's a relief. There again, there have been extreme cases were AP has taken months up to a year.

May I ask, why did you wait until June to file for your husband?

My recommendation is to look for a plan B.

First of all read congradulations on the baby! Im sorry to hear you husband is not here with you specially that you are pregnant. I do not think honestly he could be here for the babies birth. Is very unlikely and even if your process was a smooth one it takes time before you get an interview date. and as some one ealse mentioned the A/P process can delay everything.

I had a hight risk pregnancy and this did not smooth the process nor my husband was given the visa after the interview, he is from Egypt and going thru A/P and is been seven months, our son is now 2 years of age and and my husband was not in usa when i gave birth and as of now they have not met , with this im not saying your situation will be the same im not trying to discourage you.

I had to wait until then because I needed all the financial aid proofs as proof of financial hardship and the pregnancy proof from doctors to at least HELP in making them consider this. A father has every right to be there with his wife and new born child. I really hate that this country makes it so insanely difficult for something so simple to take place. I am living entirely on state aid. I can't even feed myself without SNAP benefits and could never ever afford the doctors if not for the state medical aid provided for pregnant women. But all of these things had to be in the filing in order to prove my need for expedite. I also included my husband's check stub in English with his Egyptian salary. If they have any brains, they'll know that the currency exchange rate is 6 times less in EGP compared to USD. He is a mechanical engineer and STILL couldn't afford to give me anything without being completely without an income for himself.

If smart people would stop doing stupid things, the USA might be easier to enter. Will they ever learn? Probably not!

The odds are against you considering that your spouse is from a MENA country. The background clearance usually takes extra time. However there is no harm to your case by requesting the expedite.
