Yes, I just had to fire the Immigration Attorney I was using.

She's a high-pressure nut case freak. She made the Visa process the most stressful and difficult thing in my life. She lied to me. She's a bully that attacks from her lawyer bully pulpit. She would attack me viciously in her emails over minor things.

Even my mother thought this attorney was trying to get me to respond to her attacks with anger so she could contact the U.S. Consulate in China and tell them I have a bad temper and sabotage my Fiancee Visa.

You hire someone to help you and pay them good money to do so and in return they do everything they can to destroy the most important thing in your life to you and yours.

Be careful who you hire to help you.

Wow sorry to hear that. I wouldn't even mess with a lawyer and just do it yourself. You would save yourself a lot of hassle and money.

Hi aws&ndd,

Thanks for your reply and for the support.

Yes, I now know to do it myself. I actually hired two attorneys. The first one turned out to be a scam artist that charged my credit card twice, tried to overcharge me and tried to rip me off thousands of dollars. Found out he was disbarred from practicing law so no way he could have delivered what I paid him to.

This attorney I just fired was the second Immigration Attorney I hired. I wanted a fire breathing Dragon looking over the beaurocrats shoulder in case I got a bad beurocrat. But I learned that fire breathing Dragons can easily decide to turn their fire onto you.

Lesson learned. Lots of self-serving creeps out there who don't give a flying Rat's a*ss about anyone. Be careful who you trust with what is most important to you in life.

Take care,

Hi Xanax,

Thanks for your reply.

Two main reasons for using attorneys: First, I thought if this is such an important thing to me and my Fiancee, better have some representation. Second, I have had bad experiences with beaurocrats in the past (Post Office employees to be specific) and went into this process expecting to be treated badly and unfairly by the beurocrats.

I thought if I have an attorney, the beaurocrat would be less likely to walk all over me as if I was a weed in a garden.

Instead it was the attorneys who treated me badly and unfairly. Lesson learned... attorneys aren't worth the money, headache or bullsh*t.

Take care,

Okay so maybe my last post was a little harsh.

Not all attorneys are like the two I had to deal with. There are good attorneys out there that can help you out big time if you are in a bind.

I would only hire a good attorney if you get into a bind with the Visa although.

Otherwise all you need is this site.

Hi sainath,

Thanks for your reply and thanks for your kind words.

Sorry to hear you had the same experience.

Life tests you and sometimes prepares you for a bigger test in the future by taking you through an experience you don't want now.

Hang in there and persevere,

Hi Darnell,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I should pat myself on the back for finally being free from the nightmare standing on her bully pulpit waiting to find the next victim she can scam and scream at.

Time to celebrate my freedom

Sorry to hear your experience, I hired a lawyer also, so far he seems very reliable, but needless to say i kind of got regretted bcz this whole process didn't seem like that difficult. I guess Me and my fiance wanna make sure everything goes smooth with a professional's help.

I saw ur NOA1 date is like 1 year ago,so what happened?

Hi sherylwu993,

Thanks for your reply.

It is taking this long because a difficult situation arose in my fiancees family and she had to attend to it.

My attorney (number 2) had absolutely no empathy, sympathy, patience, understanding or caring for my fiancees situation. Red flag #1.

I told my attorney that my fiancee was the most important thing in my life and I was the most important thing in her life; I just got a cold response each time, no caring whatsoever.

Attorney number 1 was worse. He planned to drag things out as long as possible so he could get more money out of me as I become more desperate. I found out that's what he did with all his clients before me (the ones that sued him in court and won and got him disbarred).

My fiancee is my reason for being in this world.

If that's the same for you then tell that to your attorney. See if he has a cold-as-ice response, or if he is one of those attorneys that actually came into this world with a heart placed between his chest.

Get to know the character and personality of your attorney before you trust him to help you to the end of this process.

If you feel he doesn't care about you or the end result and you feel you don't trust him after you get to know him, fire the fool and finish the process on your own.

Best of luck to you and yours,

As it's said, 99% of all lawyers give the rest a bad name.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
