Hi All,

Sharing our experience at the Delhi Embassy.

Reason to be there - Filing our I-130

Date - 9th July 2012

Our Experience -

We reached there around 9 am, were made to sit immediately after all the security basics. It was good to not be in the huge hoard of people waiting for their visa interview turn. Though we obviously want to be there sooner rather than later.

We were attended by a lady named Anuradha Suda (that's what we got from her ID card). She asked us for our basic documents like my (USC, benificiary) Copies of -

  1. Birth Certificate
  2. Passport
  3. OCI
  4. India Work Documents

and copy of my husband's (petitioner) Passport.

Other docs - Marriage Certificate, Marriage Photos.

She was convinced with most of the documents. She asked about the Tax document Form 16 (herein India its the Tax doc), to check if this was the Tax Return if I had filed it or this just shows the Tax deducted at source. We confirmed its given by the employer representing the tax deducted at source. Then after couple of rounds inside, probably checking up with a senior authority inside, she was convinced I have been residing in India legitimately as per their norms.

She asked us some questions about the marriage ceremony that took place, whether this was around the fire and so on. She said this was related to some other query or context. We answered the way it happened for us. B-)

After a couple of rounds inside, she asked me details about when I came back from US, when I had been there and now why do I want to go there. My case being a little weird, she asked me to write a couple of paragraphs describing it. The point is my father got us to India while I was a 6 months old baby, later at the age of 18 I got my passport made and flew to US at the age of 22. Worked there for over a year and came back for family concerns. I met my husband and I am happily married and intend to go there for better opportunities. She read and said I have done a fairly good job at writing the details :)

She made a token and asked me to go submit the fees. We were relieved, paid the fees, gave here the receipt, kept mine! No matter though how much we asked her how much time it would take, she gave a very diplomatic answer - "It could take around 4 to 8 weeks of adjudication by the embassy here". We were thinking why would it take that long, isn't the computer smart enough, cant our data be tracked in the Database?? Anyways we don't have much option but to wait.

But our first level is successfully through right? What would VJ members have to say?

Rgds

Hi,

Just came across this post. I will be filing this month. I wanted to know when you received the conformation, how long the whole process took, where you had your second interview. Could you share this information? It would be very helpful!

Thank you,

Janani
