My spouse mailed some of the required documents for DS230 via EMS Speedpost. The package was mailed out on July 5 from Lagos. I have been tracking it since then. Since July 9 the package is still with the Customs in New York. Please I was just wondering if anybody has had this experience before. I don't understand why the package will still be with the customs in New York since July 9. When my spouse was mailing out the document, the speedpost employee told her that it will take 3 days to reach its destination and today is exactly one week. Your thoughts.

Yeess, I had the same problem back in Feb. it was guaranteed to be delievered to me in 3 days.. It was held up in New York customs for 8 days. :bonk: They never gave me or the postal office a reason why. When I tracked it , all it said was in Customs in New York. I was

upset. They had my email and phone number, no one ever called or expained. I hope you don't have that long of a wait. good luck. :star:

Peace,

chi

That is not a good news. I called the USPS and one of their employees told me to ask my spouse to file a complaint over there in Nigeria. This is really ridiculuous. We all know that USPS is not going to do anything about that. I hope they don't hold that document for that long. I for one know that they don't that to documents coming from Europe. All I have to do is wait and pray that it didn't stay with customs for that long.

This is really ridiculous. I tracked my document sent through EMS Speedpost and it is still with the customs. I don't think this would have happen if it is DHL or FEDEX. I think sending any document or package from Nigeria by speedpost is a very good idea. My documents has been with the customs in New York since July 9 and I don't know how long it will be there. I have paid my IV fee and it shows Paid but I can't do anything because the customs are now holding my documents. I have called USPS and they are not helping. All they keep telling me is to file a complaint with Speedpost in Nigeria.

They can't do anything in Nigeria. It is the customs that are holding the documents. I was advised by USPS staff to contact customs. I contacted them and one of their staff said that they can't help me. All she told me was that they receive thousands of packages everyday and they have to go through it. It is taking more than a week for documents.

Just checked the USPS track and confirm website and it indicates that the mail is out of customs. Thank God. Hopefully, I will get it within a couple of days.

The document finally arrived at my door this morning. Thank God it is here. I think that using FEDEX or DHL is faster.

Yes , but at vastly greater expense and they all have to go through customs.

Letter via regular post was N1,100 ( 10 days) versus N13,500 by DHL (3 days allegedly though have never tried it myself).
