Police reports?..Japan and Philippines

Hello all...I am sure the question has been asked. In order to get the police report from Japan, do we need to have the MNL case number or the checklist/letter from the embassy? Can she just go to the consulate in Cebu and request it? Also, does she need those items (case number, etc) for the Philippine police report?

I appreciate the assistance.

No need for the Philippines report, she just needs to go the NBI center and tell them she needs clearance for travel abroad to the US.

Not sure about Japan. Some countries requite the embassy letter. On the US DOS website this is all it says about getting Police Clearance from Japan:

Applicants Outside of Japan: Former legal residents, former illegal aliens, and Japanese citizens, should apply at the nearest Japanese Consulate. Processing time: Two to three months.

SO she should just go to the consulate or embassy and get the process started. They'll tell her what she needs!

She needs to go to the US Embassy with MNL case number and NOA2 and get a request letter which she will bring to the Japanese Embassy. The Japanese Embassy will require her to get finger printed and return the forms. It took about 5 weeks for my Fiance to get her Japanese police report.

all the responses above are right, I requested my Jap PC and have to wait for that and it's been a month already and I was told it will take 2-3 months to get that, hopefully not that long. She can just go ahead and print a copy of NOA2 and her passport and show those to Jap consulate so she can request her Jap PC.

Let me share my experience :)

June 7 i went to USEM with my fiance and asked for the letter of instruction/request for police clearance at window 38.. the lady said she cant give me that letter because we dont have manila case number yet.. so we dont have choice but to leave that place :(

I was very frustrated that the NVC still not giving us the manila case number.. found out that japan cert takes 2-3 mons.. while i am in a hurry to have this done so i can fly to US and give birth (i am 7 mons preggy that time)..

I searched VJ for some info, and i found out that maybe i can try to go to Japan embassy without that letter from USEM. June 27 i went there with the copy of NOA2 and passport.. the Japanese guy at the window asked me what do i want, so i told him i need police clearance.. no more questions, he just took my passport only (no NOA2 or anything) and photocopied it and said wait for a while.. then he came back with this form and asked me to fill it up. :)

i took back the form after its completely filled up and he gave me paper for my fingerprint (be sure to keep it clean and dont fold it) and the map going to crame lab. i went to camp crame with my 2x2 pictures and 200php.. and then came back again to japan embassy (alot of walkings for a preggy :bonk: )

i gave this paper with my complete finger print..

I stayed in Japan for 4-5 years and just recently back from Jap so I probably needs it whether I like it not ngeek :bonk: long wait and agonizing process. :hehe:
