please advice me what is best to do get a round trip ticket for my POE or just a flight going there . . which is cheaper . . thanks

IMHO get a ticket to your final destination in the US. You are not required to have a return ticket for you are entering the US with the intention residing here. You may find out however that round trip tickets are cheaper than one-way. in the end buy the ticket which proves to be financially sensible be it OW or RT.

The type of ticket you hold when arriving at the POE has no impact on your admission into the US so it is really up to you to decide which makes more sense.

Congrats and good luck in your new country!!!

Check to see if you have enough frequent flier miles accumulated from visits to purchase a one-way ticket - should be between 32,500 and 40,000 miles. Then see if there are any available flights.

Correct but if you buy a round trip, make sure it is the first leg of the ticket that is used. If you don't board the first flight the ticket gets cancelled.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Absolutely!! Just so I am clear, the round trip ticket I am speaking of would presume that the second leg, or the return portion does not get used.

Usually off peak times round trip airfare runs about 1400 to midwest or southeast usa from philippines. One way is 850-900 usd. If you believe you will go back to Phils within a year and know your exact date then yes by all means purchase a round trip ticket. keep in mind any changes to your ticket will cost you pretty much the difference from one way to roundtrip in changes fees etc.
