Hi vj pals, especially those who are from Phil. Im posting again to ask another question. heheh. I am just so happy that VJ is here or I will get crazy thinking about this entire process on my own! Anyways here is my issue:

On requesting for an NBI clearance, I have read that the name on the clearance should be the name on my NSO birth cert, passport, previous maiden name, nicknames, and whatsoever names I've used in the past. Im quite confused about it coz I had a previous discrepancy on my birth certificate..

My name was actually misspelled on my birth certificate. I discovered it when I was about to graduate on college. Just a one letter discrepancy. Instead of "Jennifer" it was spelled Jennefer. I had it corrected a few years ago. So there is a note now at the bottom portion of my birth certificate that says my name spelling was corrected from "Jennefer" to "Jennifer" on this date blah blah blah. The correct spelling was also what I used on my important documents from baptismal to school transcripts up to my passport. So now about the NBI clearance, should I ask them to include my previously misspelled name on the clearance?

I think for NBI they want names you have used; if you did not use that name, I doubt it would matter then, but if you show NBI office the birth certificate, they could decide if it needed to be on there. Just a typo, not name used. Good luck in your future. :-)

I had that problem too before, i used my name analyn from grades school to high school, even in college when i get a birth certificate certified copy from NSO, i found out that my name is double "annalyn". i looked my baptismal it used analyn too. when i need to get a NBI, i was confuse what do i have to right since i use single name all the time. The guy works from NBI told me that i have to follow my name from NSO. So when they told me that i don't have problem and i am using the right one from NSO.

Bring your Birth Certificate to the NBI and explain it to them, and ask them which name it should be issued under. EIther way you should be OK, since your birth certificate lists both names.

Name problems seem very common in the Philippines, so just document it as best you can, I think you'll be fine.
