I wonder how much of my 2009 batchmates would like to file or already file for citizenship this year.

I am thinking of filing for citizenship but might just do it next year after I give birth. My husband said he will feel so relieve when I become citizen, so I'll just do it since I really have no reason not to do it right away.

Any unusual preparations you guys want to share? It would be nice to hear.

Hi batchmate!

Chinook filed for citizenship early last month. It was just easy.

Her Philippines passport expires in October 2012 and she doesn't plan to renew it, so she will be traveling with her brand-new U.S. passport when we visit 'Pinas early next year. :D

I can apply by end of July this year but I am due on December. I want to focus on my pregnancy.

We didn't really look closely at how long it would take...I think it's about six months or so. If it takes longer than that, we will visit 'Pinas later.

Nice. That's what I thought for the time frame. If I file this month, I might have interview on my last trimester and worst to have oath taking date around my due date. Thanks for info.

I might send my papers this december, and will have it rolling why I am recovering.

We are suprised at how fast the naturalization process is moving, compared to all our other dealings with USCIS. She is studying daily and I am quizing her so I don't think there will be any problems. She is using an app on her Android that seems to be helping with the questions. There were several available and most were free. Good luck on the final leg of this journey.

Yep. Apps is a good tool. Even USCIS have its own app. Just need to be updated with rep and sen

Chinook said she's going to study the questions for the citizenship test while we are on the 20-minute drive to our local USCIS office.

I hope she was joking! :o

I only hope they ask the right questions!!! ;)

When my wife took the written drivers permit test the first time, she didn't really study the manual very much. When she took it, she missed passing by 1 question. There's a free pass question I had totally forgotten about until she mentioned it afterwards, What is the capitol city of Minnesota? To locals its a free right answer because everyone knows what our capitol city is, but she answered with our largest city, which is not our capitol city. I had actually told her in the past what city it was, but it was years ago and obviously she didn't recall it. She then really studied the manual and passed with flying colors the next time, so it was probably a good thing.

Maybe your wife could request the questions she wants asked? I noticed you can download flash cards of the 100 questions they ask. Maybe you could download and print them out, and start testing her yourself? I wish I was far enough along that my wife was soon going for citizenship. I'd like to put thoughts of dealing with USCIS again totally behind us.

Hahaha! I did the test quiz on app without studying any citizenship flash cards, I got 8 out of 10. I missed who is the representative of my district and the vice president (apps still using Cheney).

So, I guess Chinook will be fine. 20 mins is enough time. :P
