"Bank Letter" Necessary?

Hello everyone,

I am putting together my I-134 Affidavit of Support. My income far exceeds

the Poverty guidlines, so I am not worried about that portion. I hear many people say

that they have "bank Letters" written from there bank verifying the amount in there

accounts. I planned on just submit my recent savings and checking statements as well

as 401K'statements (two different 401k's) Three years worth of tax transcripts and W-2's,

3 months worth of pay statements, updated Letter of intent to marry, Employment letters from

my employers ( two of them) and life insurance calculations. So is it necessary to

actually get a bank letter? Since my income is sufficient to meet the poverty guidelines?

Thanks!

Jesse

We included letter from my husband's bank with our k1 petition though my husband's pay stub was more than enough.

You won't need three years of tax returns. but you will for your AOS. Pay stubs, 1 year of tax returns. Bank statement and letters from employment will do it. Worked for us. Good Luck!

Post above mine tells you the number to call to order your tax transcript. I sent that in from the previous year and that was sufficient.

Hey Jesse!!! I'm from Denver too...I'm in the exact same boat as you financially and I sent in pretty much 100% the same thing you did.

I did go to the US Embassy in Moldova a few months ago and they like the backup documents but they told me they look pretty much entirely at the tax transcripts.

Hope that helps!

I'm self employed and well above the poverty limits too. I just sent in last years return, and tax transcripts of the two years before that. No bank statements at all. Didn't have any problems.

Hi Hank and Mogambi,

I make above the poverty limits too.

What exactly do I fill out on the 134? Just the annual salary part?

So I can skip the bank statements, personal property, life insurance, real estate, stocks and bonds, etc. sections?

So the only support document with the 134 I will need is the tax transcripts and employment letter?

thanks a bunch.

Sent I-129F 02/18/12

I too was well above the poverty level; I think the closer you are to that line, the more documents might be required. I filled out most of the lines on the 134, but as for supporting info, I sent a copy of tax returns for 2 years, and last 3 pay stubs (LES). That's it. No statements, no employer letters, no bank letters. 2 tax returns, 3 pay stubs. Nothing more.
