Costa Rica - Process for getting Police Report

Looking to have anyone who has experience with the process in Costa Rica. DS230 has already submitted but NVC is still looking for Birth Certificate/Marriage Certificate/Police Report.

Please correct me, if I am wrong about the Birth and Marriage Certificate. I understand that my wife who is still in CR will have to go to Registro Nacional to get both certifcate. Then, she would need to bring it to "Casa de Amarilla" to have the documents validated? Is this true?

So, for police report, how does this process work in order to get the proper documents?

Thank you!

Gregory

You are right on with Registro Nacional followed by the Casa Amarilla for the birth and marriage certificates. I believe my husband went directly to a local police office to pick up a copy of his police report. They are only valid for three months, so request them relatively close to when you'll need them. (We went the K1 route, so don't know the ins-and-outs of the CR1.) Compared to US documents, they don't look official at all-- but, there they are! G'luck.

Forgot to he one questions, when she goes to the OIJ, what is the name of the document that she should ask for?

My wife as her original birth certificate and a copy of the marriage certificate from registro nacional from Dec 2011. For the birth certificate, in this scenario, would it be okay to send the original that are stamped? Or get a copy from registro nacional?

For the marriage certificate, should she get a newer copy from registro?

Being that if she goes there for one might as well get them for both...

In either process, does she have to go to casa amarilla to get both documents, copy or original, certified?
