I've asked around about this topic before but it is only recently that I can now apply for my wife to travel to the U.S.

Our daughter was born last month, we lost our first pregnancy about 2 years ago.

I am getting the documents ready to apply for my daughters citizenship at the embassy and once this is finished I wanted to go ahead with the DCF in the embassy of Lima, Peru.

I was trying to find info on this on the site but only found this article:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/immigrants_5254.html

Does this mean that DCF is no longer possible or what has to be done now to apply for my wife?

Thanks for all the help!

According to all information I see online, Lima is doing DCF, there is a USCIS field office there:

The Lima Field Office will accept and process Alien Relative Petitions for U.S. citizens that reside in Peru. U.S. who reside in the United States must file those petitions at the immigration office in the United States that has jurisdiction over the petitioner's place of residence.

(Current page for USCIS field office for Lima)

Unfortunately, I can't find any information on procedures through the Lima embassy website, but there are plenty of people on this forum who have recently DCFed in Peru who should be able to help. Your first step would generally be to make contact with the USCIS office at Lima to find out their requirements for submitting an I-130. Some offices let you mail it in, others let you walk in during office hours, and some make you set up an appointment, so that's the main thing you need to find out first, as well as the document requirements, as I've found this varies from country to country.

This thread is slightly old, but it has a lot of the info on what to prepare for DCF in Lima:

Long story short, we have a complicated case. We've been at this for nearly 5 years. You can read our story here. I highly recommend our attorney Laurel Scott, as well as attorneys Laura Fernandez and Lizz Cannon .

Filed I-130 via CSC in Feb 2008. Petition approved June 2008. Consular interview in Mexico, Oct 2008, visa denied, INA 212a6cii. We allege improper application of the law in this case.

2012, started over in Seoul: I-130 filed DCF on 7/2, I-130 approved 8/8, Medical at Yonsei Severance 11/20, IR1 appointment in November 2012.

CRBA filed 1-3-13 at Seoul for our daughter

thanks for the info GlobeHopperMama!

Also, if anyone know if having a Carnet de Extranjeria or Peruvian DNI is necessary, I don't have either but I do have my contracts of rent of 4 years.

You will get conflicting reports on this. Are you currently on an expired tarjeta andina or is your status a legal one currently? I did DCF without the CE but I had a visa oficial that was current. And there are people on VJ who have done it with a tourist visa that is not expired (they renewed by leaving Peru briefly). What's your situation?

Sorry for the late response, been busy with the baby! I'm unfortunately an an expired tourist visa. Will this be unhelpful? I am going to report the birth abroad of my baby girl very soon, will I also need this to be fixed for that? Thank you so much for the help!

Your visa status should not have anything to do with the CRBA.

You should go to the consular office and ask about the tourist visa status. I have been told by another member that he had to renew his first, but they don't seem to have hard and fast rules about this. They're kind of lenient on defining residency at the Lima embassy.

I just submitted my i-130 through DCF in Lima. The representative at the office told me a CE wouldn't help in any way. In regards to your tourist visa expiring, she also told me they are in no way interested in your legal status in Peru. The only thing they require for DCF is a Moviemiento Migratorio, which took about an hour to get. This is obviously in addition to all the other forms and documentation required for the i-130.

If you live in Lima it may be a good idea to get their specific requirements as the list changes, but if you would like the list they gave me last week, PM me and I"ll be glad to send it to you.

Yep, this is the third time a VJ member has said that they've said this.

This is an interesting topic. I only showed my CE when I submitted my I-130 and nobody ever asked for a Moviemiento Migratorio. This was just earlier this year.
