The only way you can get out of it here is to come off as a racist, nutter, woman hater...it depends on what the trial is for. Once you know the case then you know what to say when they start asking you questions. It's a sure way to get out of it.

Probably has something to do with the population density up there. A small pool of people in a very large area.

That's exactly what it is. I'm in a Alaska bush ####### hole village atm with a population of 2,200. It's like you get jury duty up here every year and it blows. You have to call in every day to see if your # is up...and that last for 3 mos long. And the cases are always the same. Some Eskimo got drunk beat his ol lady, or screwed his sister, kid, niece..whatever and why they take these cases to trial is beyond me. And they pay you a whopping $25 a day for this #######. The worse part is if you throw your jury slip away and don't call in the troopers come and pick you up.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Laugh. I just looked it up. They give you $8 the first day and then $34 per day for every day after that here.

So the rest of the scum bags including terrorists will just live off the fat of the European tax payers with life time imprisonment.

Perhaps to make it a complete package give them the right to vote also.

That must be why there are so many more criminals per capita in Europe than in US states like Texas!

That is a salient point since the US have the most criminals in the world ... but per capita in such states as Texas in lower .... they truly have a deterrent by the way the mete out justice.

Just tell them that your philosophy in judging whether a person is guilty/innocent is by the flip of a coin. Heads = guilty; tails = innocent. That will get you off of jury duty

I was exempt jury duty from age 19 to the year 2010 because of former police service

I probably wouldn't get past defense selection here in the US either although I would actually be pro defense given what I see regarding justice in the southern states

No such exemption here. I am a US army Gulf War vet ... I was called 3 times already since 1995.

not the same - you don't need to be squeaky clean to join the army and you don't spend your time arresting criminals

theory is that ex police are anti-criminal and distrusting and biased

ex police know a fit-up (frame) so its a pity they can't serve - especially if its not in their home area
