That's correct - nobody on death row in any European country has ever voted - coz there isn't a death row

So what happens to serial killers or the guy that gunned down all those 85 kids in Norway? Just life time prison?

Well yes but most ex prisoners wont be paying taxes - unless its a politician like Blago

But the principle is there..

Perhaps paroled prisoners should not vote as they are still technically prisoners and being punished

You have to say why you think 'no' otherwise there is no point posting

You have to stitch together a reasoned position

Its not a yes or no poll you know

You can't vote while on parole/probation. Each state has it's own rules in that regard. In Alaska you can vote as soon as your probation is up but you don't want to vote in Alaska because they use your voters registration to nail you for jury duty.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

EU upset with Belarus over death penalty

Published: March. 16, 2012 at 10:44 AM

BRUSSELS, March 16 (UPI) -- A European official expressed concern that Belarus opted to uphold death sentences for two men convicted of a subway bombing.

A Belarusian court in December sentenced Dmitry Konovalov and Vladislav Kovalyova to death for an April bombing of a subway in Minsk that killed 15 people and left 200 injured.

Thorbjorn Jagland, secretary-general for the European Council, expressed frustration with President Alexander Lukashenko's refusal to overturn the death sentence.

Jagland said the European Council believes death is not the same as justice.

"I reiterate my call to the authorities in Belarus to put an immediate end to the use of capital punishment," he was quoted by Russia's state-run news agency RIA Novosti as saying.

Lukashenko, the only president an independent Belarus has had, allegedly said before the court delivered its verdict that the accused should receive "the strictest punishment."

Minsk has been criticized for political repression. The Belarusian Association of Journalists said this week that three of its members were, without explanation, prohibited by the government from leaving the country.

Belarus is the only European country that has a death penalty.

In Texas you can vote as soon as your parole/probation is up, but a former felony conviction excludes you from jury duty. There's a check box on the on the form they send you.

It's way better in Texas than here in that regard. Here even if you have umpteen felonies they still hose you and give you jury duty.

Belarus is the only European country that has a death penalty.

So the rest of the scum bags including terrorists will just live off the fat of the European tax payers with life time imprisonment.

Perhaps to make it a complete package give them the right to vote also.

Seems like a waste of everyone's time. The prosecution will surely use one of their peremptory challenges to get rid of that prospective juror.

The only way you can get out of it here is to come off as a racist, nutter, woman hater...it depends on what the trial is for. Once you know the case then you know what to say when they start asking you questions. It's a sure way to get out of it.
