Hello,

First of all I must say Thank you to VJ. With your help I have filed the K-1 petition and now the interview date is set.

My question is: My fiancée is Guyanese but works and live in St Martin.

The police clearance takes 6-8 weeks (so they say, other people have said it took them 3-4 months).

We have applied for it, but he will be leaving for Barbados on the 7th week. Is there a possibility they can decline the visa due to this? Or would they make him show proof that he has received the clearance before they issue the visa?

Unfortunately on that island there are no “rush or expedited” services for police clearance.

Your advise is greatly appreciated.

I had a Guyanese friend 25 years who was in the same situation and he wasn't issued the visa until the police clearance was submitted. Your fiancee may have to go directly to Guyana and talk to someone directly - to speed up the process.

He has gotten the police clearance from Guyana, but they require clearance for every country he has lived in for more than 6 months. Also since he is in St Martin, the embassy that handles these cases are in Barbados, hence his interview is there instead of Guyana.

That is wonderful!

You can attend the interview without the police clearance but you will get 221g: pending additional document

Which means you have to send in the police clearance to the consulate before you visa is approved.

Thank you for the info. I did alittle research and it looks like the police clearance in St Martin has been an issue for others.

I hope they know this (since it is posted on the official website) and approve it.

That is wonderful!

I know!!! I heard it is alittle easier to get approved in barbados

keeping the faith alive here...

Hi All,

I am happy to report that we were approved for the Visa, pending the St Martin police document.

Now we have to wait for the most slowest island in the caribbean to send a document...
