If my fiance once he arrives in the US and applies for AOS (temp residence for two years).. Can himself as a temp residence ask to bring his parents as a visit into the US or can I do that myself once we have been married. We are planning a very small intimate wedding, but would like to have a second wedding with his parents here. Can someone please let me know (Country is Cuba). Again I am so excited to be with him and have him next to me. Interview at Consulate in Havana is on Sept 27.....SOooooo excited, I will be there with him, because I know that this can be nerve recking.

No, he can't petition his parents with his conditional residence status but he can do that after he has become a U.S citizen. All his parent needs to do is apply for a visiting visa as well as meet the requirement for it and then it is left for the embassy to decide whether to grant the visa or not. Why not go to Cuba after he has had his conditional green card and have the second wedding there?

Regarding him leaving the US to visit family: review the Guides section on Adjustment of Status (AOS), paying particular attention to the Advanced Parole (AP) process, information and conditions.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

You as their daughter in-law can invite them over for a visit. Having said that, the whole process takes a long time.appoximately 2 to 3 years. My mom was here last september and I started the process in 2008. They are scheduling those interviews whithin 2 to 3 years from the day you apply. Its easier and cheaper to have a big wedding overthere which is what I am planning to do. good luck!

I know its a long process but, my mom and family are all here. My mom my sister and my kids... So with that said, it will be cheaper for me here, otherwise you know how many plane tickets and visas plus ospedajes I will need to pay to get married in cuba. If I can bring his parents over here its better, at least for visit not wedding

Hi elio&yuni

I was so happy to see an old post from you saying that you were able to bring parents for a visit. I am only in the K1 phase now but if we get approved (please god) I want to get started on the visit visa for his parents right after (considering it does take 2-3 years). Can I reach out to you for advice in a couple of months?

*I tried to send this as an email but it didn't go through :-( *

Hope all is well for you and your love.

Hi elio&yuni

Those members haven't logged onto VJ for 4 months. The OP hasn't logged on for just over a year. You might be waiting some time for any answer.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

A visit visa does not take 2-3 years, it should take a few months at the most, often only weeks. Remember that it is them who need to apply and show ties, very little you can do. Check out our Tourist Visa forum for more tips: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/143-tourist-visas/
