Cheque for wrong amount sent with I-129f

We sent in the I-129f late June and it was delivered to the Dallas Lockbox on July 1. I obviously didn't start following the posts here early enough because we got confused about the change in application fees for the K1 visa and only sent a cheque for $240 with the packet instead of the $340 required to file the petition. So, my question is, will they just send the packet straight back to my fiance or will we eventually get a NOA1 and then an RFE?

they will reject your packet, they will send it back to you with rejection letter, then all you have to do is resubmit it with the right check plus the rejection letter.

They will eventually send it back to you, all you have to do is change the amount and send it back to them... others took like few days to weeks... just hang on we dont know it might be there on your fiance's mail box anytime soon

YEa, the 240 i believe is the price for the actual visa you get after the interview, i saw a couple people in brazil do the same error

Welcome to the forum.

It is hard to say how long it will take USCIS and/or the postal system to get the petition back to you. When you do get it back, it may be a good idea to review the entire document again. I say that not intended as a slight. However, if the incorrect fee amount was tendered, there may be other very easily correctible errors that can be fixed before you re-submit your petition. This may save you from receiving a RFE later on.

Hopefully you will get your petition returned to you quickly, resubmitted, accepted, then comes the 4-6 month wait for NOA2.
