I had my visa interview yesterday at the London office for a J1 visa. I handed all the documents in-

ds-2019 and ds-7002.

However the ds-7002 was returned to me and at the interview process I was told everything was okay but they need to further admin and I was handed the 221(g) form and my passport was returned. However the ds-2019 was kept.

I am confused and not sure why I have been refused? My internship is due to commence on Sept 5th 2012 but I don't think it will be possible for me to go?

Any help would be great!

There are different kinds of AP. Did they circle anything on the form? Any questions they seem to hone in on?

If they just need to check your internship is elligible, you'll likely hear back soon. If you had trouble getting a visa before, or if they are doing security checks (are you Muslim/ originally from a muslim country by any chance?), it could take a long time. Unfortunately, the fact that they gave you back your passport is an indication they expect it to take a while.

Yes they circled on the form the london gov embassy website. They asked me how much I would be earning and who would be funding my trip. They also asked about where I was going to work. I am going to to america to do a design internship. I don't understand what problem they could find from this?

I have been born and raised in London my whole life.

I unforutunatley am muslim, It irritates me thats the reason I would be denied. I have taken a year out of university to work and gain experience and now this problem has arrised :(
