THERE IS NO LAW THAT SAYS YOU MUST FILE FOR CITIZENSHIP!!! BECOMING A CITIZEN IS A CHOICE NOT A REQUIREMENT....THE ONLY REQUIREMENT IS THAT YOU HAVE A GREEN CARD FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS BEFORE FILING FOR CITIZENSHIP OR 3 YEARS IF YOU ARE FILING BASED ON MARRIAGE TO A U.S. CITIZEN....BUT AGAIN YOU DON'T HAVE TO FILE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO ...OR YOU CAN FILE ANYTIME ONCE YOU REACHED THE NUMBER OF YEARS YOUR ARE SUPPOSE TO HAVE A GREEN CARD BEFORE YOU CAN FILE...

SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT - FILE WHEN YOU ARE READY!!!!

I will be applying almost one year after three years of being here and based on marriage, so I am pretty sure that it is perfectly fine to apply a few months later. I was switching jobs and just was not sure how would that work out, so I could not really focus on anything else.

As noted above, you aren;t required to become a US citizen, if you'd like to remain a GC holder the rest of your life, that is your choice.

Take you time and file for citizenship when you are ready emotionally and financially - it is up to you!

I've just applied....2 years after the date I was eligible to do so.

My friend in MA has been a GC holder for 30 years, and has just applied.....It's OK to apply anytime after your eligibility date.

You've got no reason to worry.....go for it when you're ready!

hi YASSER32

from my experience, i had k1 visa, so i did my interview, it was very good and they kept my passport for 6 months until administration processed done. so all what you have to do is just wait until issue visa for you, but keep email them about your case. i mean not you, let your fiance emails them is the best way to keep your case on.

good luck to you
