Hello everyone,

I posted here some time ago about marriage... We decided we didn't want to do it yet because in the past while we haven't been able to see one another as much.

Anyway, since I last posted I was actually offered a job with a growing property development company based in the United States that also has property in Europe. I was actually scouted out for the job and was rather surprised to get the call actually; it was through a friend of a friend and there has been a lot of discussion back and forth, conference calls with investors, etc.

I've been offered an high-level/executive position in luxury property acquisition and it's going to go to an immigration lawyer but I have to ask out of my own curiosity:

This job really doesn't have a degree requirement and I was hand-picked for it. My educational background is in civil engineering (something I have never actually worked in!!!) and this job isn't an engineering job.

The job offer involves a lot of travel... within the United States and to and from Europe.

Ideally, the employer (he owns the company outright) wants to have me live in the United States (this being a long-term/permanent position).

The salary is six figures and may include stock, etc later.

The company is currently worth eight or nine figures and is able to provide financials for that.

The local governments surrounding each of these projects are very eager to support these things to boost the local economies and increase the tax base.

Obviously, it's my potential employer's job to work this out with the immigration attorney but I just want to know... with this sort of economic force behind me do I stand a fair chance of eventually being able live in the United States permanently? I will put me very close to my girlfriend and since we wished to marry earlier it will probably provide us a good chance to sort that decision out.

Thanks!

The answer is yes if your company sponsors you they can also put your papers for citizenship in after a fixed number of years . Its very common for companys in the States to scoop up engineers for unrelated fields the thought behind it is if you can

become and engineer then you can handle a wide host of other types of work . I beleive you can look this trend up on the past issues of wall street journal ,seems wall street likes to use engineers as well . Ok then good luck

Nothing comes to mind.

Sounds like there is a solution without immigrating.

Not a good idea to comment on issues you have no knowledge of.

Well, I would eventually like to live in the United States as most of the business is located there. The employer is dead set on hiring me so should I be confident that it will likely work out with his deep coffers?

What does he know about US immigration?

A job offer without a visa is worthless.

Speak to the Immigration Lawyer.

Boiler, he is going to speak to an immigration attorney and I will be speaking with the same attorney. I am asking now of my own curiosity before the process formally starts.

Ideally he should have spoken to the Lawyer before he spoke to you.

Do let us know what happens.
