I had my interview last May 17 and was given form 221g (white) by the consul to submit an updated VisaScreen certificate. Yesterday I got the certificate and immediately sent it to the nearest 2go branch to be submitted to the US Embassy. Until now I am unable to trace whether my papers are already in Manila or in US Embassy. Furthermore, I called the US Embassy Immigrant visa hotline and the lady told me that it might not be in their possession yet and she advised me to call back tomorrow afternoon or on Friday. I'm already trying to book my flight on July 28 but I'm a bit anxious that I might not be able to get the passport on time. When do you think will I receive my passport with stamped immigrant visa? Thank you for your inputs.

Case - EB3

Here is what the U.S. Embassy Manila says:

But don’t book your airline tickets!

Applicants are advised not to finalize their travel arrangements, dispose of their property, or give up their jobs until they have been issued visas. Quitting a job, leaving school, selling property and/or closing bank accounts prior to visa issuance may be risky. In some cases an application may be delayed for months or years.

It varies from days to weeks. Even 2go is not super reliable in the PI, so the advice of NOT booking until you have visa packet in hand is wise. You have 6 months after your medical to arrive in the USA, so no rush. Just wait for it patiently. And eat lots of pandesal and pancit there, you will miss it once you leave!

Good luck...

my aunt booked me already on august 4... i just hope my visa will arrive soon... wew.. we were worried because of the fair fee. it's getting higher. I'll be traveling with my uncle so I hope before August they release my passport already so I can have my CFO asap. Anyway during my interview the consul already approved my visa.. she just saw my visascreen certificate was expired that's why she gave me 221g. but I saw the website of 2go and it's showing that my document is already in VFS SERVICES PHILS. PRIVATE (US) for screening. I might call the embassy tomorrow.

I called US embassy this morning and they confirmed that they have received my VisaScreen certificate and have forwarded it this morning to the consular officer. However, the rep told me to wait for 3 weeks as they have a lot of cases still pending for visa issuance. I just hope and pray that they will release it before August, my flight date.

I just had to do the same thing as you recently. I sent my documents in through 2GO on a friday, they arrived at the embassy on monday. It took the embassy 10 days to process my stuff and issue the visa. I called to inquire and it just so happened that they printed the visa that same day, they told me to expect it to take 7-10 business days from that date to be delivered. That was 2 days ago. 2GO texted me and my wife today to tell us that her documents and passport are ready for pickup! Moral of the story is that there is no telling exactly how long it will take. It will probably take the embassy a few days at minimum to process your papers and print out the visa, then from them expect 7-10 business days is what they will tell you. But, I wouldnt jump the gun and make any plans just yet!
