I hope this question does not upset anyone or "raise any eyebrows" but I want to know what is the long term percentage rate as it relates to Immigration Marriages? I am fairly new to this site and I recently read a post descrbing a marriage did not end on the corner of "Lover's Lane & Happy Avenue." In addition to that, I have been told by several spectators that marriages such as yours and mine are for the sole purpose of "coming to America." I do believe my fiance' loves me dearly and he wants to be with me forever. However, I am curious about this and would like some feedback as to the longevity and divorce rate.

Thanks for your time and I appreciate the feedback.

The amount of people in this forum is a very small percentage of the actual people who apply for visas. And I don;t think anyone can give you percentages. For the most part I have seen success stories here. If you are questioning your fiances immigration intent, why are you considering the visa for him?

Greetings,

I would guess no one can really answer that question truthfully. Just like marriages here between two USCs, who really knows. Fools will rush in to love and marriage any and everywhere, it's just that divorce is more expectable in the US than some countries like where are fiancees come from. I used to get questions from people about my fiance especially him bieng from Nigeria (FRAUD ISSUES). But it's not like I never ran into lying, misleading, unfaithful, confused, men before in America lol :bonk: . So really what is the differnce. So the best advice is just be honest with yourself and your spouse, have patience, take time to understand each others cultural differences seek counseling if neccesary, pay attention to signs don't just wish thinks to get better but work on it daily, and keep your marriage sacred by keep negativity, and unnecessary people and thier opinions out of your business.

Best of luck to us all

Peace,

Chi

I love my fiance' and as I stated before I believe he loves me and intends to be with me always. Perhaps you misconstrued my question. I asked about the divorce rate based on information I have read on Visa Journey and heard from others outside of this online community. My intention is not to question anyone's motives, including my fiance'.

I agree and I have faith in him but most importantly in Almighty God.I was just asking because I have read stories about "not so happy endings." Just curious.

Thanks so much! I appreciate that and I do believe "unhappiness" could happen anywhere in the world. I can see this is a subject that is not often discussed here but the reality is, it happens.

I agree with the above posters, there is no specific number or percentage for what you are asking. Anyone who gets married to someone they love will expect to be there forever, but some things just don't work out that way. If you are having second thoughts, take a good look at your relationship, no one can predict the future, but there are usually signs telling us what we can expect...

Absolutely! Honestly, I was seeking a number just based on curiosity nothing more. I have no doubts about the man I have decided to marry and share my life with. There are numbers and calculations for almost everything on this site but nothing about marriage longevity. Thanks for the info! :-)

I think one thing people have to realize is this Visa Journey as we all have experience is hard, painful sad and heartbreakig. Many couples break up. But that doesn't mean there was fraud. Some people have gone through this 2, 3, 4 years or more now they are finally together and sometimes things don't work out.

It's so easy to say fraud and such. I find it funny when its a foreign spouse and it doesn'y work people use the word "fraud". But in the US we call it lying, deceit or cheating.

I think personally the stats are stacked in our favor because those who make it we are stronger because of this journey. Only those really committed to this WHOLE process will make it.

I think most of the people who get used for a visa and then dumped do not doubt their relationship until it is too late.

It's a valid question and shouldn't raise the eyebrows of any sane person.

Personally I think you will hear a lot of horror stories on here so the data won't represent well. This is not a relationship forum per see but an immigration one.

The requirements for the K1 visa is very minimal, meet at least once in two years, I mean seriously. So the success rate will show that on here. You will have folks who went on vacation, met someone, spent a few days and filed for K1, you will find serial petitioners who are geriatic and keep on petitioning for merely post teen beneficiarys. And then you will also find folks who petitioned someone from their old country who is of the same cultural and family backgrounds. One may expect those to have a higher success rate. Please note that I am nto recommending one over another, just trying to explain what the underlying false data issues may be.

The statistics you're looking for cannot be obtained from VJ. Come hell or high waters nobody knows anybody's head...there are countless stories out there but not everyone is like that. It is left for the individual involved in the relationship to do their homework to not become a victim. In a post-modern anti-truth world where many people attach significance to their personal interest without much attention to others, no one can guarantee 100% safety in anything. To minimize any potential damage, you go in with your head leading your heart and not vice versa.

Absolutely! Honestly, I was seeking a number just based on curiosity nothing more. I have no doubts about the man I have decided to marry and share my life with. There are numbers and calculations for almost everything on this site but nothing about marriage longevity. Thanks for the info! :-)

Thanks so much! I was beginning to think I said something wrong. Yes, I agree. I have been to Ghana 5 times in the past 15 months because I know how important it is to spend time with my fiance in order to know and understand each other. We met while I was on vacation in April 2011 and I needed more time with him. When you're considering marriage,it's BEST you make MORE of an INFORMED decision about your relationship not an EMOTIONAL decision. Love is a WONDERFUL thing but you need to prepare for reality.
