This is so ridiculous. I called USCIS yesterday and the IO told me that my application was still at NBC. When I called 2 weeks ago, the IO told me that is was sent to the field office. I have no idea of what is going on and will be contacting my congress person in the new year. If I do not get a response from her, I will be sending an email and letter to Obama himself. Not sure that sending it to Obama will do anything but it cannot hurt to try. I hate this waiting and feel like I am stuck in limbo...not to mention the $1080.00 that we spent on my AOS app.

Wife was approved for her GC sort of.

Today we had the I-551 stamp put in her passport. Just filled out the paperwork for her reentry permit application. We shall see if they will accept the stamp as proof of GC.

The reason I say sort of is CSC in their usual from of incompetence never scanned her file into the system before they shipped it to the local office. So on the 18th instead of clicking 2 buttons on his computer, the officer had to send the entire packet back via snail mail with his approval letter on it so they can scan it into the system so she can get her actual card.

After months on not being able to check my status update online, I figured for shites and giggles that I would try today. Well when I inputted my receipt number, it came up and now USCIS has sent out an RFE...so frustrating after waiting since July that this is happening. I guess that I will just have to wait and see what the mail brings. It was sent out today.

Moemac, at least you know they have looked at your petition. Once you respond to the RFE you should not have to wait to long. My wife's RFE was just for more information to process the AOS without an interview. If that is the case just gather more information now so you can reply to the RFE the same day or the next day that you receive it. Also send the RFE by Priority mail with delivery confirmation. That way you know for sure they received it.

Lisa and Mark. The day after your application hits 6 months at the CSC contact the USCIS and put in a service request. You might get a fast approval after that. Or you can bypass the service request and contact your Senator or Congressman and have them get involved. If you have a decent rep they will poke USCIS with a stick and they will process your app asap.

Thanks Ama - You are right. At least I know that they are looking at the AOS app. Believe me, I plan on sending it back either by FEDEX or Priority post with confirmation. I have a feeling that it might have to do with my hubbies income tax return last year. He is self employed and filed for an extension until October 2012. He didn't have it done when we applied for the AOS. I guess I will find out when the RFE gets here. Hoping that is it.

Dont feel bad, My wife's AOS was transfered on 23rd July, and we have not heard anything either. The K1 took about a year and now this is dragging out. I just cant wait to see how long the ROC takes. Do you guys think that doing both a service request and getting both the congress man and Senator involved right at the 180 day mark would be wise. I just worry that that doing all the above might be counter productive.

I would at least do a service request for being outside of processing times. The Senator and or Congressman could wait until after the service request has been tried.

The file's should already be on or near someones desk for processing, by putting in a service request the center has to look into why the application is outside of the normal processing times.

A lot of times within a few days of contacting your Senator and Congressman the AOS will be approved. Congress and the Senate is at an all time low for public popularity. They are scared for every vote and might get USCIS to move much faster than a service request.

AMA - the RFE was for a copy of our marriage certificate. When I sent the package in, I tried to get another marriage certificate issued but was instead issued a certified transcript of marriage. Apparently, in our county in NY state, they only issue one marriage certificate. I could kick myself for not submitting a copy of our marriage certificate. I thought that the transcript of marriage would suffice. I was stupid to think that the marriage transcript with a signature and seal would be okay. Now this has cost me time for my AOS application to be processed. It was a valuable lesson to learn. I made an infopass appointment to be on the safe side to confirm that a copy of my marriage certificate that the county issued will be okay.

I just wanted to add an update on our case that was transfered to the CSC on 23rd July 2012. Since we are now past the 180 day mark, me and my wife decieded to call the USCIS to put in a service request on the application. We called a total of three different times on different days, and we got three different reasons to why we can not request a service request for the application being outside processing times. It really is just a lot of conflicting information. We asked to talk to a tier 2 officer and spent a total of two hours each time on hold with no answer. Im starting to wonder how many people who were transfered to CSC and have not got any updates on their case? Has anyone had trouble requesting a service request about their case?

I am going to ask my congress man to make a request on our behalf and see what happens. I look forward to hearing others updates or opinions. Thanks
