I promised this would be my last post for k1 process. make it short and simple. My fiance wasn't approved because we got the wrong police check for Australia. It was our fault because we didn't know that the Embassy required fingerprint check not just name for background check. So now he needs to get a set of fingerprint to send it to Australia Federal Police and we need to pay the fee. My questions are where can he go get his fingerprint? (I assumed the same place he gets his thai police clearance certificate?) and how does he pay for the fee? He can't send in cash. He needs to send w/ a check from the bank that is affiliated w/ an Australia bank. He can pay w/ money order but I don't think Thailand has money order? sighs.. I guess after we're done w/ our k1 process, I can become one of an agents that help people in relationship to get their k1 visas... :o

This is unfortunate but he can and will still get his visa. I found the info below on google. Note that he can do this on line and you can pay by credit card. If you use money order make sure its in Australian dollars as are all the fees they indicate.

Submitting Your Application

Online Application:

If using the online application you need to nominate an email address. This will be used to send you a document that you need to complete and sign. You then need to submit that completed document, along with copies of your nominated identity documents. To submit you may either:

•Scan and email to AFP-NationalPoliceChecks@converga.com.au

•Post to:

Australian Federal Police,

Criminal Records

Locked Bag 8550

CANBERRA CITY ACT 2601

Downloadable Application:

If you prefer to use the downloadable application but are still paying by credit card, you may scan and email the application, along with copies of your nominated identity documents to AFP-NationalPoliceChecks@converga.com.au

If paying by bank cheque or money order, or if submitting an application that involves a fingerprint check for which "ink" prints have been obtained, submission must be by post to the above address.

Application portal

To access the online application or downloadable PDF application through the AFP's application portal click here.

Fees

The fees for National Police Checks and related services are:

•$42.00 for each National Police Check application from a government department or an individual.

•$42.00 for each National Police Check application from a non-government organisation (eg: commercial entities like brokers, migration agents etc)

•$139.00 for a fingerprint and National Police Check application, where fingerprints are taken and processed by the AFP.

•$99.00 for a fingerprint and National Police Check application where fingerprints are supplied to the AFP on application.

He should be able to obtain F P from any Thai police station. He could ask if they could or would scan them to the proper Australian police. he should also ask if they will give him a digital copy that he can send himself.

Thank you for the information! We got everything done yesterday! It was a relief! Now it's just a waiting game. Australian police works pretty slow. It'll take them at least 2 weeks to get everything done and will send the certificate by a snail mail so that's going to take about 10 business days. My fiance probably will get it by the first or 2nd week of August. Then hopefully he gets his visa by no later than 3rd week of August. We've been working on our k1 visa for more than a year.... 1 more month will be okay I guess.

This is good news at this point. I suggest you now contact the embassy to have them tell you exactly what your fiance can do to get this info inside the embassy. I have seen cases where they just say to bring such info in on any Monday or Wed and then then review it and grant the visa. This will not take long.

I know how you must feel as far as the total time this has taken. My own case went on for 408 days. The worst is behind you and the best is yet to come so concentrate on that.

Unless they changed it, it used to be Mondays and Wednesdays between 1-3 pm to submit additional evidence.

They just told him to mail in his passport and his fingerprint clearance from Australia once he gets it. Most of the reviews on here said they went to the embassy to turn in additional documents. I better tell him to call the embassy and see what they say.
