This is the best place to post this I assume... sorry if I still managed to get the wrong forum. This place is pretty large for newer users.

I was reading on our process because we have our interview in a couple of weeks. When she gets to America and applies for the social security number, does that mean once she gets that she is legal to work?

We are doing the K-1 Visa and according to this website:

https://secure.ssa.g.../lnx/0110211530

The K-1 Visas are allowed to work... But I'm not sure if it's that easy... since it's never that easy.

Anyways should be a simple question regardless any information would be great

No the social security is just that a card for social security reasons such as retirement and such it is not the card that allows you to work , what you need to do to get this card is apply for it on your ds230 when you go for the interview in manila

also to get a work card she needs to put in a i765 when she does her adjustment of status its called the EAD form OK Then Good Luck if you need more answers feel free to call .

You will not receive your SSN just because you check something off on the DS-230 form for a K-1. You must go to your nearest SS office and apply. This is what you need to do to get your SSN after you enter the US with a K-1: http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn

thank you

Bryan, you have NVC stuff in your timeline, and I want to let you know you won't do any of that for a K-1. Your case will get logged at NVC and then be sent on.

AOS for my husband

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
