Hello,

Today was my interview at Karachi consulate for F1 visa type. I have got I20 from CSULB for MS in electrical engineering. My overall profile was good as I already had 2 US enteries under B1 visa type & Currently working in renowned power generation company for 2 years. My interview went good; VO asked just me about my financial background, sponsor (mother in my case) and sbout my studies. However he took my CV, passport & I-20 and gave me general letter of 221g and send me to another window for filling a form. The form had two sections in it. First section, write the names of your brother/sisters. Second section, names of childrens. My passport number & my Name. I was not given any sort of tracking number for future correspondence.

One important thing, when the VO was giving me the 221g letter. He said something which I failed to hear and he further said "we need to go through your case for some administrative preoceeding as its the policy of washington etc etc. But we'll try to fasten up process. Go to window no 2 and fill out the form."

Do anyone has a clue to it? Is visa issued to me as i failed to hear what he said? Does anyone have encountered same scenario?

Regards,

Syed Ahsan Shah

Since you are applying from Karachi,I assume you must be a Pakistani passport holder. Most of the times, administrative processing is required. Its basically just a security check that is run to ensure that you are not in any way linked to any sort of illegal or terrorist activities. It is usually completed in a matter of about 60 days so just hold on and be patient. There is nothing that can be done about it.When it comes to matters of national security, the US Government does not compromise. You cant expedite the process,it takes its time. The embassy will contact you once the process is completed.

You can google it up to find out more.

Good luck

Exactly, this is standard procedure to make sure that you have no criminal ties. The wait time probably won't be that bad, since you qualify as a STEM (science tech engineering math) applicant and had everything else in order.

Hi Ahsan,

I have applied for H1B and had my interview on May 28 at Karachi embassy. Your interview experience was very similar to mine.Although this was my first time applying for any US visa but i have heard them making people wait for longer than 90 days.

My employer has started to loose patience, so hope the washington processing ends up in its due course of time.

Will keep the blog posted for updates.

This is a standard process and employer should be aware of it.

AP can take several months or maybe more they do not have any definative timeline on those.
