Hi Everyone.

Thanks to anyone who responds.

We just sent off the I-130 a few days ago and I was wondering what paperwork I can compile/fill out for the next step? Can we get the police checks and the medical now? Should I start filling out the 864 forms? What about this DS230? When will they ask for that?

Thanks for your help!!!!

The Police Certificate is valid for a year so you should be ok to start ordering that now.

I don't know much about the DCF process so others may step in and correct me, but normally you can't do anything about the medical until you have been assigned a new case number - it will start with LND (for London). Normally that is done by NVC but as you are DCF I guess it will be the Embassy, once your I-130 is approved. What you can do for sure is check the vaccination requirements and if you need any then you could get your GP to do them. That will probably save you time and money later.

The DS230 will also have to be submitted to the Embassy so you probably have a while yet before that is needed, although there is no harm in practising filling it out.

Hi there,

Cathy is absolutely correct - you cannot do your medical till you have received your LND number aka case number. This number will only show on you "Packet 3".

You will only get your "Packet 3" after you have received your Notice of APPROVAL (NOA2).

You also need your UK Police Certificate to make the appointment for your medical.

It's a very good idea to get your other forms and documents sorted as some of them are a bit of a mission to get, I'm assuming stuff like your your passport and birth certificates etc are all ready to go.

  • The I-864 may be a one of them depending on your financial situation and if your going to have a co-sponsor etc. So start with that. You will also need some tax transcripts for this one. So order them online or phone the IRS to get your last 3 years worth.
  • Police certificate is quite straight forward if you complete all the documentation correctly.
  • Check what your status vaccinations wise are with your GP and get the required ones if you need any. Then get a vaccination letter or report from the GP before the Knigthsbridge Doctors will send my stuff to the consulate....

To be honest you can fill out all the forms now, you just can't send them yet. Like Cathy said it's a good idea to practice.

Also check out Holly's list here.

...and good luck there are several of us at several different stages at the mo....I've had some issues with my medical and I'm awaiting letters from my GP and other health professionals.

:D

Oh dear. I just checked your timeline....are you filing in Cyprus as you state there and not London?

If so then you need to ignore the advice I gave you as DCF is specific and unique to consulates and I was under the impression you're filing in London. Sorry. :bonk:

Check this link then.
