Got the tourist visa, can we fly through a buddy pass (standby) to the USA?

Hi All,

My husband got his tourist visa 2 weeks ago! Wooo hoooo! Our original plan was to purchase regular tickets, but my flight stewardess friend has offered for us to use her "buddy passes" to fly to the USA. It is basically a standby ticket. It still costs money, but saves a lot compared to regular tickets. We would book our standby tickets round trip of course, and way before his 6 month limitation is up!

Would this cause a problem when my husband goes through customs? Will they question his buddy pass ticket for the return home?

A ticket is a ticket...they don't care as long you have the visa...save money!

He will not have any issues coming in on the buddy pass. Having said that make sure he does not wait until his very last day to try and get on a plane back home because if he gets deplaned and misses his exit date he will be on the wrong side of the law.

Exactly what I was going to say.....my daughter works for British Airways and flies standby all the time.....but always flies home a day or 2 earlier than she needs to, for the same reason.

She's only ever been turned away once....but for you, that once might mean an overstay.

Old and Grumpy....But an American Citizen!!!

Wonderful, thank you! Yes, his visa allows him 6 months and we are only going to stay for 4. So we should be good :) I appreciate your information. I just don't want there to be any issues!
