Floods of Krasnodar

After several days of being on a roller coaster of emotions I can report that my Wife is ok even though she has

some stories to tell about the events over the last few days in South Russia. She was in Gelendzhik as the floods started,

there to get her International Passport and obtaining the Police request for her Moscow Embassy Package. I have been

working on the I-864 documents.

Not much flooding in Gelendzhik at the time, but streets were flowing in the water by Noon. As we know now this became a

deadly event that evening. I knew it was going to rain quite a bit because I was looking at WeatherUnderground that

morning with her on the phone. Because her computer was on the fritz she couldn't see the forecast and she needed to know.

I told her to get in gear to Gelendzhik that morning because it looked ok at the time but probably a good idea not to hang

around too much because the storms were moving in from the Sea. How little did I know the amounts of rain would fall!

As the evening progressed I became ever more worried not knowing about her. I don't need to tell anyone here how isolated

this felt.

I finally got through on the phone lines and in very quick conversation determined she was safe in her apartment and that

her village was not having the severe flooding problems.

The Russian Government is only going to release about 10,000 Rubles to those that lost homes. Many lost much more than this

which no amount of money could help with the loss.

There is no such thing as private property insurance for most Russians. Krasnodar District like many areas has seasonal

vacationers income or agriculture job base. Lara has (had) a good income for the area and earns about $400 a month, but most

people earn less than she does. She was told last week that this November the job she had will go away...this Winter. The

resort cannot support her or anyone else's income except in Summers. May until October is the future for her workplace.

Everyone in town will have to commute long distances and hope to find jobs.

All of this is to remind all here to remember to say to each other from the heart how you feel. Not one day should ever go

by you do not tell your Spouse you love them! None of us can know the hour of our passing and we each hope for a long life

together with our loved ones. Please do take a few moments to reflect on those that lost their lives and hold compassion

for the families that lost so much. In the end we are all Human and have much the same burdens in Life to endure.

Remember, only by the grace of God go we. I pray your loved ones are safe.

My father in law lives in Krasnodar district but his area was not hit by the floods. My wife was relieved.

Let's pray for the lost and the survivors.
