to any who have had a cosponsor on the k1 visa, i am aware that a sponsor does not have to be related, only a us citzen with means of support but does the indiviual have to live with the states. my mother who would be our sponsor has moved over seas to new zealand. most of her assests still reside in america other than her cars, and homes. will she make a suitable sponsor or should we be looking towards someone else that is still in america? furthermore, my finances are minimal due to the fact ive been traveling for over a year and i havent been state side for two years now. this means i have no recent employement history in america. will the cosponsor avoid difficulties or should we expect our application to be delayed until i return home and resume work? thanx for any input or advice everyone;)

The person needs to be a US citizen or greencard holder AND reside in the USA, so you need someone else.

Having a qualified co-sponsor will be fine.

I don't know if for K1 visa the sponsor fills out form I-864 or not.I just read in form I-864 that Sponsor and Co-sposnors must be DOMICILED in U.S. meaning that they can live abroad( in 3 cases, one of these cases is "a temporary stay abroad"). I suggest you to check the word used in K1 visa affidavit of support to see if it's "domicile" or " reside".
