SEC is incredibly overrated. The majority of the teams are mediocre at best and now they're adding two more mediocre teams. The championship game last year should have been LSU vs. OK State, but the media/ESPN is so in love with the SEC mystique that they gave us a crappy rematch of a crappy game.

The SEC will continue to have a majority of mediocre teams with about 3-5 very good teams on top.

The Big 12 added two more very good teams and may be deeper than the SEC, although ESPN would never admit it.

The PAC 12 is definitely more than just USC. Oregon and Stanford are always solid and Washington State might soon be very interesting.

The Big 10 is slightly better than the PAC 12.

Right now, college football looks great, especially with the little playoff coming up soon. I'd love to see it at 6 or 8 teams, but this is better than nothing. It would have been great if we had started the playoff last year. LSU vs. Stanford and Alabama vs. OK State.

So how many conference games does the SEC play? I mean it must be difficult going up against all those top rated teams week in and week out. Head to head with LSU, Bama, Arky, etc.. not to mention inter division games as well.

Okay, just for arguments sake, let's say that having a 10 win season qualifies as elite.

Last year, the SEC had 5 teams with 10+ wins - LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, and South Carolina.

Last year, the Big 12 had 4 teams with 10 + wins - OK State, Kansas State, Baylor, Oklahoma.

The SEC is adding two teams, with a combined 15 wins last year. The Big 12 is adding two teams, one who won 10 games and one who won 11.

I'd say that the two conferences are comparable.

Of course, I'm sure the response will be that the Big 12 teams are not elite simply because they don't play an SEC schedule. But remember, there has already been a comparison of schedules between Georgia and Texas, so simply having an SEC schedule does not necessarily translate into a difficult schedule.
