Should the SEC withdraw from the NCAA

Nice place. I don't really dislike the PAC-12 I just hate USC. Do you remember how in 2005 ? I think it was ESPN kept talking about a 3-peat, when in fact USC did not win the title in 2003, LSU did.I loved the beat down Texas put on them in the Rose Bowl that year. Plus you have to admit there is not a bigger Douche walking the face of the earth than Lame Kitten. BTW the had to Vacate the 2004 title. So it turned out to be a no-peat.

USC is an easy team to hate with all the exposure they get. It's like Notre Dame. But in USC's defense they had zero knowledge of Reggie Bush's parents receiving money from an NFL agent in a deal made for when Reggie got drafted. Bush's parents lived two hours away from the USC campus and I honestly don't know how USC is suppose to keep tabs on all their players relatives. It didn't benefit USC one bit in regards to Reggie trying to cut a deal with an NFL agent on the side for when he left USC.

ESPN and the BCS are two more organizations I have zero respect for. They have made a mockery of the national championship, how it's decided and who plays. The NCAA doesn't even recognize the BCSPN champion it's that bad. D1 football needs a legit playoff format imo to become respectable.

Here's a few examples of USC getting hosed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USC_Trojans_football

In 2003, highly touted but unproven redshirt sophomore Matt Leinart took over for Palmer at quarterback. Although his first pass went for a touchdown in a win over Auburn, the Trojans suffered an early season triple-overtime loss to conference rival California in Berkeley. Nevertheless, Carroll guided the team to wins in their remaining games and they completed the regular season 11–1. Before the postseason, both the coaches' poll and the AP Poll ranked USC number #1, but the BCS - which also gave consideration to computer rankings - ranked Oklahoma first, another one-loss team but one that had lost its own Big 12 Conference title game 35–7, with USC ranked third.

In the 2003 BCS National Championship Game, the Sugar Bowl, BCS #2 LSU defeated BCS #1 Oklahoma 21–14. Meanwhile, BCS #3 USC defeated BCS #4 Michigan 28–14 in the Rose Bowl. USC finished the season ranked #1 in the AP poll and was awarded the AP National Championship; LSU, however, won the BCS National Championship title for that year, prompting a split national title between LSU and USC. In the wake of the controversy, corporate sponsors emerged who were willing to organize an LSU-USC game to settle the matter; nevertheless, the NCAA refused to permit the matchup.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USC_Trojans_football

Most analysts expected the game to be close—as USC matched its speed and defense against the Oklahoma running game and skilled offensive line—but the reality proved to be far different. USC scored 38 points by halftime, and won the BCS National Championship Game by the score of 55–19, making them the BCS Champions and earning the team the AP National Championship as well.

In June 2010, after a four-year investigation, the NCAA imposed sanctions against the Trojan football program for a "lack of institutional control," including a public reprimand and censure, a two-year postseason ban, a loss of 30 scholarships over three years, and vacation of all wins in which Reggie Bush participated as an ineligible player, including the 2005 Orange Bowl, in which the Trojans won the BCS National Championship.[9] These sanctions have been criticized by some NCAA football writers,[10][11][12][13][14] including ESPN’s Ted Miller, who wrote, “It's become an accepted fact among informed college football observers that the NCAA sanctions against USC were a travesty of justice, and the NCAA’s refusal to revisit that travesty are a massive act of cowardice on the part of the organization.”[15]

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

SEC is incredibly overrated. The majority of the teams are mediocre at best and now they're adding two more mediocre teams. The championship game last year should have been LSU vs. OK State, but the media/ESPN is so in love with the SEC mystique that they gave us a crappy rematch of a crappy game.

The SEC will continue to have a majority of mediocre teams with about 3-5 very good teams on top.

The Big 12 added two more very good teams and may be deeper than the SEC, although ESPN would never admit it.

The PAC 12 is definitely more than just USC. Oregon and Stanford are always solid and Washington State might soon be very interesting.

The Big 10 is slightly better than the PAC 12.

Right now, college football looks great, especially with the little playoff coming up soon. I'd love to see it at 6 or 8 teams, but this is better than nothing. It would have been great if we had started the playoff last year. LSU vs. Stanford and Alabama vs. OK State.

Great topic.

The SEC brags about this and brags about that yet you have teams like Florida who hasn't left the state of Florida to play on out of conference game since 1991, the two Miss. schools which usually suck year in and year out and the schools in that conference that play weak OOC schedules. The SEC ragged on Boise St. and low and behold little ol Boise St. flew down to Atlanta and curb stomped Georgia and national TV last season and the season before that Bama got stomped by Utah in a bowl game.

Then like you say the BCSPN took bama over okie st. even though bama lost at home to LSU and didn't even win their division. LSU was punished by winning at bama and was forced to play an extra game thus risking injuries and a possible loss.

With the Bevo 12 they got two strong football programs with WVU and TCU but they lost some in regards to the TV market. Mizzou carried St. Louis and beyond and TAMU carries Houston and East Texas. TBH I'm surprised that conference stayed intact after they lost four schools in two years to three different conferences. To make it worse Texas Tech is threatening to drop a non conference game if it's shown on the LHN (Longhorn Network). Hopefully they get everything worked out in that neck of the woods and stick it out. I would hate to see that conference gutted anymore than it already has been.

The PAC signed a sweet deal with the TV networks and the money starts rolling in this year. That means better facilities for all the PAC teams which should help with recruiting. Andlike you pointed out take a look at WSU in the next few years. I don't see them being a title contender anytime soon but Leach should have an exiting offense if anything.

Here's the problem with the SEC. Look at Georgia's schedule, remember they won the SEC east:

Buffalo 3-9

Missouri 8-5

Florida Atlantic 1-11

Vandy 6-7

Tennessee 5-7

South Carolina 11-2

Kentucky 5-7

Florida 7-6

Mississippi 2-10

Auburn 8-5

Georgia Southern 11-3 D1-AA

Georgia Tech 8-5

Compare that to Texas, who was middle of the pack for the Big 12:

Wyoming 8-5

New Mexico 1-11

Mississippi 2-10

Oklahoma State 12-1

West Virginia 10-3

Oklahoma 10-3

Baylor 10-3

Kansas 2-10

Texas Tech 5-7

Iowa State 6-7

TCU 11-2

Kansas State 10-3

I've heard people try to claim that a team has a difficult schedule if they're in the SEC, just because of the conference games. It seems like the Big 12 has much more difficult conference games. It's a good thing the SEC has ESPN to cover for them.

South Carolina and Georgia Tech are about the only two teams on that schedule that are worth a #######. Florida is expected to have another down year.

Bevo is going to have it's hands full with OU, WVU, TCU, and KSU and even though OSU lost some key players they might be an above 500 team in conference play is year. That's going to be a tough conference this year.

Here's Washington's schedule for this upcoming season.

San Diego State Aztecs 8-5

at LSU Tigers 13-1

Portland State Vikings 7–4

Stanford Cardinal 11-2

at Oregon Ducks 12-2

USC Trojans 10-2

at Arizona Wildcats 4-8

Oregon State Beavers 3-9

at California Golden Bears 7-6

Utah Utes 8-5

at Colorado Buffaloes 3-10

at Washington State Cougars 4-8

LSU, Stanford, Oregon, then USC!?!? Enjoy the little break with Portland State. And expect the rivalry with Washington State to get good fast. Having Leach there is going to be good for the conference and the rivalry.

Washington could get to 9 wins maybe 10 with the bowl game.

I don't see any way Texas can do better than that either. It could be a toss-up on who has the better record between the two teams.

Of course, with Georgia's cupcake schedule, they should top both teams.

Washington will be a 7 - 5 this year at best imo but realistically more like 6 - 6. San Deigo St. is tough year in and year out so no free rides for Washington other than Portland St. with the OOC schedule. They lost Polk (RB) to the NFL this year and our defense was abysmal last year. Washington has a new defensive coaching staff but it's going to take more than that to get back again. Another year or two at the least and they should be competing with Oregon for the PAC North title. The bright this spot this year is Keith Price (QB). The only college QB returning this year with better numbers than him is Matt Barkley.

Leach will help WSU but the problem WSU has is recruiting. They are in the middle of nowhere and I mean nowhere. It's nothing but high desert for two hours any direction from that campus and there's more rabbits and coyotes in that area than there are people. WSU is building a new stadium so that should help, and Leach has some recruiting talent. That and he's from Montana which isn't all that far from WSU and he still has connections in that neck of the woods.

Leach got people to come play in Lubbock. Plus, he didn't always get the best talent but his system is great. I think he'll get it done there.

Even with your pessimistic outlook for Washington, you could still have a better year than Texas. We look good on defense and I love our running backs. If somebody can learn how to play QB, then we could be great. But, if we have the same QB problems as last year, we're sunk.

UT had another top rated recruiting class this year and their defensive ends were rated as tops in the nation. They picked up two 5 star RB's and if one of them produces as a true freshman they will be in the mix. But like you said they need a QB to stand up. That two QB system they had last year sucked...I hate the dual QB thing. If they can get to Landry Jones and put some pressure on him without having to stack the line they could pull off a major upset and that might be just the thing to propel them along for the rest of the season. That WVU game though will be the first big test. I saw what WVU did to Clemson and they have a lot of guys coming back. Man that conference of yours doesn't have many weak links. I see at least five teams that have a valid chance of winning the Big 12 this season.

And MODS before you make the decision to nuke this... If you think SEC football is not Politics and Religion, you have never been to Jacksonville the last weekend of October.

We agree that ESPN is full of it. However USC got nothing but airtime and lobbying for USC. ESPN did not even acknowledged that LSU won the National Championship in 2003. Pete C was not that bad but Kiffin is a first rate Douche .
