CR1 inverview

I was wondering if anyone has any advice or opinion, i met my wife through my dad in 2010. He knew her mom s they set us up over the phone. we had a wedding ceremony that summer in her country but did get the marriage license, her coutry denied it, but 6 months and almost 6 months pregnant with our chilf she called from her service of justice court we can now get married. i went back in march of 2011 and we were able to get the marriage license and now she is 8 months pregnant. she had our son the following month in april, i can not be there for the birth since i had to be there the previous month fto obtain the marriage license, its costly and and very difficult to get away from your job to go twice in 2 months.

i went back in february of 2012 and saw our son for the first time. i went back again in april 2012, saw mywife and son, we submitted a CRBA, to report a child born abroad, it was successful.. we are able to obtain our childs social security and U.S American passport. With this success, would it be easier for my wife to pass the interview , if the consular officer know we have a child now, does this greatly increase her chances? I hear the interview questions can be tricky and the consulate officer can be tricky. Then i did not know she still has to be interviewed with Customs in the united states at the port of entry. what type of interview questions would they ask? she is in vietnam and the consulate office she will be interiewing is Ho chi minh. After reading threads of unsuccessfull attempts for a visa it makes me worried

Having a child does not increase or decrease your chances of success.

She will not be interviewed at the POE, she submits her packet, they may ask her a few questions, and that is it. Very unlikely (although I do know of 1 case) anything serious will happen at the POE

Focus your evidence on the amount of time you have spent together and how you've followed traditional Vietamese traditions

Why was the original marriage license denied? You'll most likely have to submit proof of an ongoing relationship with your wife and child and it is possible that they will ask for a DNA test. It just depends on the circumstances of the denial (if her first divorce wasn't finalized, etc) but chances are things will be ok.

no more dna test since crba was approved passport issued, in the us gov't eyes it's his child. gather up evidence for the cr-1 process now. i would not say having the child "greatly" increases your chances, but it's a piece of evidence for your relationship. the big interview is at HCM, poe is nothing. i think you'll be ok even with the way the relationship started.
