I think the notion of colony and the exploratory empire which Britain built is something at which most Americans frown. Remember that our psyche is very much that of republic and citizens as opposed to kingdom and subjects. It would be a mistake for America to engage in that sort of government after having enjoyed over two centuries of independence and becoming a superpower on its own. We have not needed to follow some foreign monarchy for centuries and fared quite well.

Of course, by your rationale we should judge Britain by our American standards and facilitate a revolutionary war on the islands in an effort to do away with the medieval notion of monarchs, which is so very antiquated and almost barbaric.

Last time I looked, the USA was several thousand miles from Afghanistan - about the same distance your desired 'fork off' is away from the thread subject

Summary:

Moslems feel they have the right to judge the US population by their standards (eg mini skirts, pole dancers)

The US feels it has the right to judge throat slitters by US standards

Moslem nations WOULD impose their values wordwide by force if they could - but they can't

The US imposes its views a bit following its use of military force - but not enough in my opinion

I think the US should seize the opportunity to stamp this stuff out in the way the Brits stamped it out in India

Yes let's stay until their culture develops to a basically acceptable (to us) level
