Just had medical interview

Hi there...

Thanks to all who shared their Vancouver medical experiences, it was just like what you described...

Got there at 6:45 am to a big line-up already. Had 2 vials of blood taken, was cattle-called in unflattering pink gowns to get a chest x-ray, waited around for another hour to see the doctor. Mine was named "Bob".

Kept my underwear and socks on, my throat and ears were examined. Neck was felt up, and only one side of my underarm was felt. That's it! No "peeking" down south OR touching of abdominal region. Nurse was in there the whole time. Weight and height measurements taken. Had a brief eye exam with my contacts in. Paid $275. Was out of there at 9:30am.

I felt almost a little shafted because I could have easily done that exam on someone myself! Surely not worth $275.

The best word of advice definitely was to bring a book to kill time, or Sudoku puzzles if you're into those. They had one "Time" magazine and a handful of those crappy mini soap opera digest mags that no one reads anyway.

Luckily I live right in the city so I'm at home and then I have to return at 2pm to pick up the results.

Bye for now!

The eye exam was the silliest. They didn't care if I had my glasses on or off.

don't forget to add the cost of the bloodwork and chest x-ray at the hospital -- combining that with the cost of the medical, it's about the same.

I forgot about that...the extra fee was $80, so you are right, it is about the same :)
