birth certificate notarized???

Hi again guys

Well i finally got my rfe in the mail and it was what i thought

It was going to be....translate my birth certicate from spanish

To english.

Anyway i was wondering if it has to notarized or if i can just

Translate it on my own and send it bak???

Some people tell me i do need to notarize it some other say no

I called uscis and they told me i need to contact an attorney for

Further questioning on that.

So if someone could please tell me i need to do it or not.

I want to get this done asap.

And also do i send my mothers birth certificate in english too??

Hers was just in spanish as well....the rfe does not ask for her

But i dont want to get a second letter in the mail and slow the

Proces.....

They definitely won't accept your translation of the document. It would be better translated by the public notary in your country of birth if possible. If not, there are translation services that perform this function for a fee of course.

You won't need your mother's birth certificate for the initial I-130 submission or for the RFE, but you will need it later in the process. It will need translation in a similar fashion.

My fiance's birth certificate was translated by his brother-in-law in the US with his statement that he is capable to translate document as such. It wasn't notarized but they accepted it. No RFE's for us. You can also use translation services like this one:

I have not used them before but they seem to be reliable. You can also look in craigslist.com to see if there is anyone in your area. I'm not sure if you need an attorney for this one. The response of USCIS is a typical response from them.
