I'm not sure we can really say its VCS that's super slow. I've seen others on here who are preparing for interviews this month and they applied in February. Perhaps it's all down to the actual agent doing the paperwork and digging into our personal lives. When I applied for my Passport several years back, it took two weeks. But a friend of mine applied a week after me and it took a couple months. I feel it's all down to the load each specific agent has to deal with. But of course VCS won't rat out a slower/more detailed worker.

FYI to all who are waiting. We applied last august CSC and it took over 6 months for our NOA2, when they state 5 months that is just a marker it doesnt mean you will get a approval by then. I dont think calling in or contacting a congressman is going to help much unless you are reaching 6 or more months. It really sucks to wait as I was the same as all of you, But it was worth the wait and once you receive NOA2 it goes very quickly. I would be concentrating on getting all documents etc in order for the interview so once you receive your NOA2 you are ready. Good luck to all who are waiting

5 months is the approximate from NOA1 to NOA2, Our whole process from NOA1 until my bride enter the USA was 10 months almost to the day, and she came to the USA 3 days after she received her visa from the embassy. Granted we did have one RFE that delayed our process by about 3 weeks.

I don't understand why when people aren't even at the 5 month mark since NOA1 they get upset. It is obvious that they are approving cases by other members here, and the members are a very small percentage of people who have actually applied. When we all started this process we all knew it would be an AVERAGE of 5 months, That could mean more, that could mean less. Hundreds of thousands are applying for family based visas at any given time. Getting a congressman or senator involved the day after a case hits 5 months isn;t going to do anyone any good. I would start worrying after 6 months. And calling day after day isn't going to make it move any faster either. You can't judge your case by others. Each case is different, each country is different, each service center is different, each consulate is different. It is what it is. Although I know it's difficult, you need to try to be patient. I am sure the people adjudicating these cases is doing the best he/she can do with the resources they have.

Exactly, well said!

We waited more than 5 months and when we started our K-1 journey, we were aware of the 5 months more or less time from NOA1 to NOA2. What sucked was that at that time december 2011 VSC was moving really fast while CSC was not. We were happy to be at VSC because the average was 4 months at that time. Then, around april that changed and VSC began to slow down and with that all approvals. We were not ok but we were not desperate either. We decided to wait the 5 months and contact USCIS to put in a service request after we hit 5 months and 2 weeks. We did not see a sense of freaking out because we did not get approved right at 5 months or less. My fiance and I knew that it was anytime now. After we put our service request, we got approved 2 weeks after. I was preparing to e-mail my senator if we did not get news by our sixth month. So urge all the couples to be patience. Immigration is a long process and before you and your honey begin this journey, you guys SHOULD get familiar with it and understand that it is gonna be a long, impatient, frustrating and annoying ride. However, the love for each other should compensate for the rest.

VSC SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! They're slowwwwwwwwww! Everyone should call and write the Dept. of State and the head of VSC so something can be done! This is ridiculous!

Uh, ...... :wacko:VSC is a part of USCIS, which is a part of the Depertment of Homeland Security, NOT the Department of State.

Good luck on your visa journey.
