There must not be much crime. There's no way to escape. So you have none of the national food chains or fast food. No WalMart? What is the main source of employment, the fishing industry? It must be nice to visit for a while but get boring after a while. It's not like you can hop in your car or truck and go into the city. And I image there's a lot of drinking.

There is tons of crime here and everywhere out in the Bush. Nowhere to escape but the eskimo's don't think about it when their drunk. We have a 85% eskimo population here in Dillingham, and that's low for out in the Bush. Most villages are 100% or close to it. They get drunk and they can't handle the booze and the next thing you know someone is getting stabbed, raped, shot, assaulted or all of the above. It's nothing like this on the road system...Wasilla, Anchorage, Fairbanks, etc... but it's bad out in the Bush. That's why when people read the crime statistics up here they think it's a nut farm, but what they don't realize is that it's because of the Bush that those crime rates are off the hook.

On the road system they have Walmart, Fred Meyer, Safeway, Sears, JC Penney, Nordstrom, Best Buy, etc..... but out here where I'm at (pop. 2,200) we have two pseudo grocery / general stores and a hardware store...oh and a NAPA.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Living in New England it is hard for me to imagine not being able to drive somewhere unless it was an island. It's real wilderness up there. So there's not much in the way of entertainment and it costs a fortune to live. It's like another world compared to the East Coast. I'd like to visit Alaska sometime. I have friends who have been there and they said it is beautiful.

We have lots of people in Alaska from Maine and Massachusetts. Some big time Sox fans. If you ever get the chance it's worth the visit...just do it in the summer. The winters up here suck. Iv'e been to Boston airport a few years back and saw the skyline, and I used to watch a detective show called "Bannock" that was filmed in Boston and I always wanted to watch a Sox vs Mariners game at Fenway.

I'm out. It was nice talking to you and I'd like to learn more. Have a good night.

Night to you also spooky. Av a good one. :)

Fenway isn't a modern park, but it has atmosphere. And there is always something special about flying into Boston on a clear night. Someday I hope that I will make it there for a visit. My mother took on of those Alaskan cruises many years ago and loved it.

I got an email from Newegg and they have the Crucial M4 128 GB ssd on sale for 104.99. You can't beat that with a stick.

I don't mean to interrupt but were were referring to Banacek starring George Peppard? I spent a fair bit of time in Maine but I never got a chance to get down to Yawkey Way to see the Red Sox play, I do have a Mariners baseball hat, though.smile.gif Do you get hammered by the black flies and mosquitoes or are you in one of those lucky spots that one have one bloodsucker to deal with? Any Arctic Char in your neighbourhood? Just curious.

Banacek! Yep that was the one. If I remember right it would start out with him riding in the back of a limo along side a water front. The series didn't last long though.

We have lots of mosquitoes where I'm at (tundra) and white socks. White socks are bad around here and their bites swell up big time. Plenty of Arctic Char around these parts...some big ones in the 5 - 7lb range but they don't taste so good. Rainbows put up a better fight and for eating then it's salmon, halibut, and rock cod.

Always wanted to get my mooching reel out and give it a shot, also I have a mayonnaise jar waiting for a stick of dynamite. I had no idea you had Rainbows up there. I wish I was better at Photoshop, I used to know all that layering business but I haven't been up on that in a while. You are probably the most astute individual when it comes to gaming systems, so whatever your recommendations I tend to follow. Now if I only had some scratch, I'm missing out on the hardcore barely-legal porn.crying.gif

The biggest rainbows in the world are here in Alaska including the world record ...which was caught at Lake Illiamna if I recall. That's about a 40 min. flight from where I'm at by a single prop.

Here's a general build form. Fill this out and I'l post a build on here for ya.

Approximate Purchase Date: (e.g.: this week (the closer the better))

Budget Range: (e.g.: 600-800) Before / After Rebates

System Usage from Most to Least Important: (e.g.: Folding@Home, gaming, surfing the internet, watching movies)

Parts Not Required: (e.g.: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS) **Include Power Supply Make & Model If Re-using**

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: (e.g.: newegg.com, ncix.com -- to show us selection & pricing)

Country: (e.g.: India) we need to know where these parts are being assembled

Parts Preferences: by brand or type (e.g.: I would like to use an AMD CPU & Biostar mobo with a 24" LCD and full tower case)

Overclocking: Yes / No / Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Yes / No / Maybe

Monitor Resolution: (e.g.: 1024x768, 1280x1024, 1440x900, 1600x1200, 1680x1050, 1920x1080, 1920x1200)

Additional Comments: (e.g.: Need to have a window and lots of bling, I would like a quiet PC)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Include a list of any parts you have already selected with descriptively labeled links for parts.

The easiest method is to paste the label on one line and then paste the link below it.

Honestly, 8GB should be ok, but with the RAM prices where they are 16 would be tempting.

What do you think of this board?

Power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256065

I really want a Seasonic, but they are expensive and overkill.

I like the i5 3570K at Microcenter.

What do you like for cases? I like the Corsair Carbide Series, 300R, 400R, 500R, depending on how much I want to spend. I'm all ears for ideas.

That's a solid board and that's a good psu. Another psu to have a look at if you want to save a few bucks is this one down below.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151093 $59.99

SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze 520W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS 12V v2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

All the Corsair Carbide series cases have great cooling / airflow. If your looking to go deluxe then it's the 500R hands down. It has the multi channel fan controller along with the LED on/off switch but you can't to wrong with any of those three cases. Look for newegg combo deals with those cases and also check amazon. Usually Amazon has newegg beat price wise on those Corsair cases.

Thanks for the input. Would either of those boards be ok for some n00b overclocking? I know Asus has some boards with the one click overclock that boost it up a bit and keeps all 4 cores active. I know you can go a lot higher using manual settings but I don't know if I want to get addicted to playing with overclocks and not using the pc.

All those boards O/C pretty decent...Asus, Asrock and Gigabyte. Here's the thing with Ivy Bridge. It has a few heat issues when you start pumping volts into it so you can get a nice easy O/C on that cpu to 4.2Ghz without having to give it any extra voltage. Also all three board makers (and MSI) have UEFI bios interface which makes over clocking easy as eating pie. The Asrock boards have three bios saving settings and if they have it then I'm sure Asus and Gigabyte have something similar. Here's something to not forget. Make sure you RAM for these 1155 boards is 1.5V. That old school high voltage RAM like the 1.65v makes havoc with the controllers on these newer boards so you want 1.5V and CAS9 works fine. No need to over clock your RAM these days with these new 1155 boards.

For a decent after market cpu heat sink that comes with a small tube of TX-4 thermal compound look at the CM EVO.
