Saudi Arabia Police Certificate

I have recently submitted DS-230 package, today I got a checklist from NVC saying that Saudi Arabia police certificate is required. My wife has lived in Saudia for several years but she is neither a Saudi citizen nor she is currently residing there.

The Country Reciprocity Schedule for Saudi Arabia clearly states that "Police clearances are unavailable for third country nationals who no longer reside in the Kingdom."

I talked to an NVC agent over the phone, at start she was not ready to admit the fact and kept on insisting that police certificate will be required since my wife stayed there for more than 6 months after reaching age 16 . Then I was told to send out an email, it will be investigated and the case then "might" be closed.

Has anyone of you experienced this? Please share.

Hmm...was this a supervisor you talked to? If not, I would call back and try to get a supervisor to see what they say. Even though NVC is a step up from the misinformation line they still are not aware of a lot of things. When you get the supervisor bring up the fact that the DOS country reciprocity table says police clearances from KSA for nonresident third party nationals are unavailable. If they don't seem to care ask them where there is an accurate list of which countries require the police clearance.

If you get the same rhetoric then I would try and call the nearest Saudi embassy to your wife to see what they say about obtaining a police clearance. If they tell you it is not possible get them to issue you a document stating that. Use that to either get NVC to cancel the request or at least defer it until your embassy interview. Once at the interview they should be more up on DOS country reciprocity table.

Let's hope this was an uniformed person and not a change in policy.

Just send the email. It WILL be investigated and the request will be dropped. Make sure you include your second paragraph above with the link.

I mailed NVC proof of academic & professional records of my wife showing that she is out of Saudi Arabia for a long time & that she won't require police certificate from Saudi Arabia. The case was put under investigation for about two weeks and then I got the case complete email & within the same week interview letter was received.
