There you go again, thinking man is God and that we have an overall impact on the planet itself.

The planet will go on without us. We'll be long dead as a speciies and the planet will thrive.

You see, that is the problem. Of course the planet will go on without us, without humans and perhaps without many of the species we now share the planet with. Man has already contributed to the extinction of some species but the fact that we may be setting the stage for our own extinction is why some of us are concerned. But since you will be personally inconvenienced I guess we should all just shut up and go for a ride in our hummers!

I cant think of any species that has expanded at the rate we are expanding without a sudden abrupt disaster happening

Usually it's eating out the food source or disease or the rise of predators

In our case we can add thermo-nuclear war (equiv to predators) or climate change

I reckon we will hit a barrier anyway with our population rise - especially when the fertilizer sources are worked out, so climate change will simply get us before hunger does

No one's stopping you from riding a bicycle to work, recycling (although a lot of recycling uses more waste or ends up as waste), being concious in the things you do, etc.

However the idea that everyone should be forced to do the things the way that you or the environmentalist whackos want them to do it is absurd, especially based on a bunch of 'guesses' on the problems of the world.

You want to help the planet? Get rid of tactical warfare and let another World War happen. Knock out a few hundred million people. Their deaths won't be in vain. Population control is the key to a brighter future of this 'planet' if you want to get down to it. Wars are great for ridding the world of unwanted populace. However modern warfare doesn't kill off enough people to do jack.
