Funny. I thought that the Detroit bail-out was first initiated at the end of 2008. Checked the first TARP vote in the Senate - 33 Republican Senators voted for that $700BN bail-out package that included the first close to 20BN for GM and Chrysler. I believe that it was a GOP President who signed that into law since the current President wasn't in office at the time. But hey, why worry about those pesky facts?

Indeed and they sucked also..... So that makes it ok for the dems ??? Her is a link to Obama's GM restructuring plant to refresh your memory

It makes sense depending on where one lives and whither one is moving. We have 5.5 cars in our garage and were we contemplating moving to a city such a New York or San Francisco proper chances are we would store the cars somewhere in the desert and not take the along with us. The last thing one needs in a place such as New York is a car.

I just spent 4 years in EASTERN Washington State where the humidity is zero or less

I used to mow the lawn in 100 degrees without sweating

My car is 5 years old I am so frustrated that I have no excuse to change it because its like brand new

In England I bought new every 3 years and its such fun changing

Yeah try the Philippines. They alternate days on when cars can travel. One day cars' license plates that end with even numbers drive the main roads and the next day cars with odd numbers drive. Very, very congested.

That will only increase numbers of cars per household. We did that before in the old country, I just went out and bought a car for odd weekdays and weekends.

james bond had revolving license plates for just such a problem

They were fitted by an Irish mechanic and both numbers were the same !

Anyone who thinks we're even remotely close to "peak car" has obviously never driven in Moscow. Or Seoul. Or Beijing. Or any number of foreign cities that were designed before the automobile became popular.

Read the title to this thread. (It refers to the US! There is a Moscow in Idaho. I have never driven there. I don't know about any US Seouls or Beijings)
