I know there's a post on here about this already, but it's not for the K-1 Visa process.

My question is, do I need a full version of my birth certificate for my interview? Mine does not show my parent's names. Would this matter?

I think you might have a problem. On the instruction from US embassy in Stockholm, it clearly says in the checklist that the birth certificate must state the birthdate, birthplace, names of both parents and must come from the country where you were born.

p.s. sorry I didn't see this was posted in regional forum. :)

Maybe other canadians will give you another answer.

You need to have your original long form birth certificate with you at the K1 interview. You can order this from your provincial government. Canadian birth certificates

Hope this helps!

I ordered the long form birth certificate in British Columbia.. cost less than $30 (although yes I know yet another cost we have to pay) and took about 10 days to arrive. Hopefully that doesn't add too much time to your wait :(

Ontario makes you pay $35 for your long form birth certificate. $30 extra to rush it if you are in a hurry.

Yes you'll need it.

Thanks for the replies, I ordered one on Friday, and I paid the extra $30 for 5 day delivery, I'm still a bit worried I won't get it before the 23rd, which is when I have my interview. Hopefully I do!
