F1 Student Dropped from Classes

I don't know how long it takes for the school to report it and immigration to come knocking at your door, but I know you don't want it to happen. There was a woman who posted here not long ago about being in a similar situation, she was taken out of her home in the middle of the night.

really ?? I mean I in no way support falling out of status (as I myself did upon completion of school by getting a denied OPT), but does ICE really come-a-knocking unless there's whisper of criminal activity ? They have THAT much man power to get all the folks who have fallen "out-of-status" ... ? Frightened.

@mymarriagejourney : I'm in the same "out-of-status" boat as your fiance'. The sooner the better. Money's been tight, so me & my dear are just gettin round to the 1st stage of this journey, but I wish you all the best. I pray your situation goes smoothly, & pls do the same for me.

Yeah they do, I have no criminal record and had a 2 week old baby. They picked me up at 6am at my home and I had only been out of status a few months. Fix this ASAP.

Because some of the 9-11 hijackers were present in the US on out of status F-1 visas they have cracked down very heavily on this in the past few years.

Universities are now required to report any foreign students who drop out of classes immediately to DHS and ICE moves very fast on information they receive from this.

I'm not saying this to scare you, but you should file for AoS immediately if it is your intention to not leave the US. Doing that will protect you from being picked up by ICE or any other immigration authority until your application is finally adjudicated.

We filed the AOS on Friday and left for our honeymoon in NYC the next day. We're still in NYC. The USPS shows that it was signed for in Chicago on Monday. No word from USCIS, though, even though I did fill out the form for them to text message and email.

to add to your case will just say cross your fingers and hope for the best. I was an F-1 i came in 08 and guess what i worked since 2009 till 2012 when my visa expired out of campus at BEST BUY lucky they didnt pick me up coz in 08 i also had a record on my file and i went out of the country in 2010 for my dads funeral on my way back i was asked if i have ever been arrested i say yes funny enough Immigration had no knowedgle nor were they aware of my record from 08 even after doing fingerprinting at the airport. To make story short after hours they sent me on the next flight to miami since port of entry was Detroit the same state i actually was arrested and they dont have record on file. After few months and me showing court record passport was given back with new stamp and i filed for adjustment in June am now waiting patiently to see.

I talked to my DSO my F-1 Was still active even though it was expired in my passport she said it takes 60 days for ICE to terminate it automatically if they dont. Plus you have 60 days as well if u drop out of school to leave or apply for reinstatement .
