Morning

I just received my UK police certificate which states "NO TRACE". However, when i was young i received a caution when I was younger, about 15 years old. Now, when i come to filling out the DS-230 on question 41 (have you ever been charged, arrested or convicted of a crime) do I sate that I have or do I say no? I don't want to flag anything up if i don't need to

If you've been "cautioned", that means you've not been charged, arrested or convicted of a crime, doesn't it?

My husband's certificate said "no trace" and he was never cautioned or anything else. Hopefully that helps.

you need to say you were cautioned and be honest about it. it wont affect your application if you had one. it will affect your application if you lied about not having one and they find out.

you need to say you were cautioned and be honest about it. it wont affect your application if you had one. it will affect your application if you lied about not having one and they find out.

If they ask you if you were cautioned you need to answer truthfully. They do not ask you if you were cautioned, however, they ask if you charged - a caution is not being charged.

It is my understanding that UK caution is a way to handle a petty crime by adults without bogging down the courts. The offender is admitting guilt and they settle without is going to court. But it is still a crime you admitted guilt to even though you didn't get a court conviction. However if you were 15, it was probably not the same because you were a juvenile. Read this

Since the OP was a juvenile it is considering a warning or "telling off" and not a charge, which is why it is not on his record as it would be for an adult
