check yes you want a social security card,

When you check yes I want a social security card, how long does it take to get a SSN card? My husband completed this part of the DS 230 form the day of his interview, June 10th. We have tried to follow up with the social security office and USCIS. No one can tell us anything about the progress. He's bored and anxious to get a job, drivers license, etc., because without the SSN he can't do much.
