We are freakin outa control and lawsuit happy. before ya know it... kids will have to goto school in the stay puff marshmallow man suit to keep from gettin a bruise or bump gettin in and off a bus.

I wouldn't blame litigation but spineless school administrators who are so afraid of litigation. As long as they take reasonable steps to ensure kids are fairly safe, they shouldn't worry. I'd be curious to know how many schools have been sued by parents from their kids playing rough and getting hurt. Litigation should be about gross negligence and not about making a school hurt proof for the child.

Yeah, and how many of them get laughed out of court? You have a right to sue anybody for just about anything...however, good luck finding a judge or jury that's going to side with you if you don't have any legitimate reasons. It's an inaccurate belief in this country which is has been perpetrated by those who would stand to lose the most from lawsuits, that frivolous lawsuits are ruled in their favor regularly.

Parents throughout the country are being pressured and coerced by schools to give psychiatric drugs to their children. Teachers, school psychologists, and administrators commonly make dire threats about their inability to teach children without medicating them.

Since the early 1990s, North America has turned to psychoactive drugs in unprecedented numbers for the control of children. In November 1999, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) warned about a record six-fold increase in Ritalin production between 1990 and 1995. In 1995, the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), a agency of the World Health Organization, deplored that “10 to 12 percent of all boys between the ages 6 and 14 in the United States have been diagnosed as having ADD and are being treated with methylphenidate [Ritalin].” In March 1997, the board declared, "The therapeutic use of methylphenidate is now under scrutiny by the American medical community; the INCB welcomes this." The United States uses approximately 90% of the world's Ritalin.

The number of children on these drugs has continued to escalate. A recent study in Virginia indicated that up to 20% of white boys in the fifth grade were receiving stimulant drugs during the day from school officials. Another study from North Carolina showed that 10% of children were receiving stimulant drugs at home or in school. The rates for boys were not disclosed but probably exceeded 15%. With 53 million children enrolled in school, probably more than 5 million are taking stimulant drugs.

The medicating of the child then becomes a coercive response to conflict in which the weakest member of the conflict, the child, is drugged into a more compliant or submissive state.

Well, my daughter loved to play baseball when she was younger and she has a pretty good arm for throwing the football...where did I go wrong? Perhaps you've got a more narrow view of how boys and girls should behave? Jinky was told she laughs too loud by some of her older relatives ...that she should be more demure or she'd never get a boyfriend. Again, I say it's all poisonous pedagogy. Just let people be themselves...there's no definitive way boys and girls behave, in my opinion.

p.s. I played with GI Joe's as a kid...so yeah, I played with dolls. But I also played sports...what does that make me?

I beat the HE#L out of my GI JOES,and cut the hair off my sisters barbies to look like GI JOE! She was Pissed!
