As the time for my trip to Morocco approaches I have one more thing I need to figure out. I want to take some sort of gift to my fiance. I asked him what he wanted and he said anything is fine. I asked about bringing a gift to his parents and he said that would be great but just something simple. He said his father especially loves receiving gifts. Now I have no idea what to get for anyone. So I was just wondering if any of you would mind sharing what sort of things you took as gifts. I'm just trying to get some ideas because right now I cannot think of anything.

You can never go wrong with watches for both or a watch for the father and perfume for mom. Good luck and enjoy your time with hubby.

I brought Bath and Body Works lotions and body wash for my sister in laws and mother in law. For my father in law I brought a polar fleece pullover since it was winter and they don't have that sort of thing there or didn't at the time. For my now husband I brought a U of M sweatshirt and a Detroit Tigers baseball cap. I also brought several bags of Hershey kisses and other candy. They have American chocolate there but it's only at larger grocers and it's pricey (or was) so most Egyptians don't buy it for themselves often. They all enjoyed what I brought esp the chocolate. :)

First time I went I got my father in law monogrammed handkerchiefs & my mother in law writing paper with her first name on it.

I think the biggest hits were a lined fleece hooded sweatshirt for my father in law. He liked to wear it after coming out of the hamaam. It was warm but comfortable. The other was a down throw blanket for my mother in law. It was not heavy and bulky like those big blankets they have there are but still very warm.

I also agree with Mithra about the American chocolates. They liked that as well.

When I go to Jordan, and I'm leaving to go back next week, men love designer cologne, especially my father in law and the older brothers. For my mother in law I bring purses and shoes, she loves them, sometimes I just tell her to go to Macys.com and just choose several things she likes and bring her 1 or 2 of them. I also bring my mother in law believe it or not, tabasco sauce because it is very difficult to find there, and they use it a lot. When I went during the winter I crocheted scarves for all his sisters, aunts and nieces. Chocolate is great too, what is inexpensive for us costs a lot there and/or they don't have the kind of candy we have. And what they said about just something simple is true, they are very appreciative of anything big or small. Good luck and happy shopping it'so fun!!!

Morocco is a Muslim country, and if her fiance and his family are Muslim alcohol is haram/forbidden.

For my husband's mom I always bring things like a robe and slippers, jewelry, or perfume, or all of them. For his sisters and sisters-n-law I bring something from Victoria's Secret or the Bath & Body Shop. The first time I bought sets and had them wrap them in paper with a bow, it looked very nice. I also found these wooden rose bouquets that were really unique and pretty and brought them, and sprayed them with potpourri. The next time I brought lotions and things in little Victoria Secret bags. For his brothers I just brought shirts that said Los Angeles, Hollywood, and souvenir stuff, etc. They won't wear them I'm sure, but just to keep. For the nephews I brought hats, and Nike shirts, Nike socks, etc. For the nieces I brought Disney dolls from the doll store both times and will continue to bring them, as I'm starting a collection for them. I also brought them a few pretty hairbands and ponytail holders. Next time I will probably bring them the dolls and some clothes, and next time some kind of toys for the boys. Another idea that I sent them for Christmas and they really liked (even though they don't celebrate) were those cars that you can put together, not models but they snap and you can change them around (can't think of what they're called) for the boys, and bracelet kits for the girls. I brought my husband the first trip a Guess watch and a Nike sweatshirt (which I found out later he doesn't really wear sweatshirts lol) and the second time some Nike pants and sandals just for hanging around the house in. Anyway, some ideas for you. I hope it helps;)

As the time for my trip to Morocco approaches I have one more thing I need to figure out. I want to take some sort of gift to my fiance. I asked him what he wanted and he said anything is fine. I brought tons of different chocolates my first trip and they put them out, but his family isn't a big sweet eater except the kids of course, so I didn't bring any the second time. I did bring the kids a little bag each of candy and that gum that comes in a round tube, and one of his nephews had it all gone the first day lol
