Something is seriously wrong in society today. When I was a kid and got in a fight, the thought never entered my mind to go home and get my 22 or shotgun and go shoot my opponent. As an adult in business, if someone screwed me out of money, I would never contemplate shooting them. Maybe break an arm or leg, but shooting, no. Guns used to be easier to get and these crimes rarely occurred. It's not the guns, it's the mindset of those using them. Life has no value to many people today, and it sadly starts at a very early age. Take a look at the gang violence. Sure, drugs play some role in it, but IMHO, the people who do the drive by's, the Columbines, the shooting today etc, are fvcked in the head. Why? What has happened to people in the past few decades? What has happened to our youth?

Fear, fear of failing, fear of never achieving the "American Dream", fear spread by the media, fear used by politicians. It's rampant in American culture. Look across the border to Canada, Canadians have just as many guns for its population and gun crime and events of this nature is miniscule compared to the US.

Ugg, tweeting has become a job....the world is ending.

I'm sorry, what are you saying? Is this guy not representing the NRA through National Riflemen?

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

The truly sad thing is ..

If the shooter had been Arab, it would be linked to some terrorism BS. If he'd been black, the shooter would be labeled a thug. But he's white, so people automatically assume he just has a mental illness.

The way media paints events like this is gross.

So the fact that 50 people were murdered in Chicago last week has zero affect on you yet you find this even tragic. I find that a bit racist.

It's totally screwed up these days and it just keep getting worse. Back when I went to school the worse thing you had to worry about when getting in a fight was catching a tire iron or a baseball bat over your head. A few stitches and you were good to go. You didn't see kids back talking their parents back then like you do today. It was a respect issue and if you screwed up you can be sure you caught an ####### whipping...at home and at school by the teachers who were allowed to beat you with a wooden paddle back then. Kids today are a bunch of basket cases for the most part. Their week.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I'm saying I hate the modern world where "tweeting" has apparently become an important job.

What some clueless idiot posted on NRA's twitter this morning.

Who was his employer? Was he employed by the NRA or was he just a regular Joe that doesn't have a half dozen news links open to see what's happening every second of the day. Maybe he should tune into Good Morning America every morning instead of having a life.

Try actually reading the post that you quote in your replies otherwise you might come off as a racist.

If you're involved in the social media aspect for a major organization, you should probably be up on your current events so you don't put your foot in your mouth.

Funny, I have a life, didn't turn the tv on at all today, and still heard the news before I got into work.

I know what I said. I said if this guy had been Arab, the media would have no doubt labeled it terrorism. If he'd been black, the media would no doubt be portraying him as a thug. But he's white, so the only thing is "oh, maybe he has a mental illness" ... I made a statement about how incompetent the media is when it comes to covering situations like this.

What part of that statement has anything to do with Chicago's violence and me not caring about it?!

People tweet all the time yet it doesn't mean they are employed by any certain organization.

"That tweet was posted at 9:20 a.m. ET on Friday by an account for "American Rifleman," the official NRA journal. The group, which advocates for gun owners, appeared to have been pulled down from the Internet as of about 12:30 p.m. ET Friday."

That is the official NRA twitter account. Only certain people can post to it, they are either volunteers or employees.

It was apparently an automated tweet

The tweet was posted via Hootsuite, an app that lets Web publishers schedule tweets to go out automatically at a later date or time. "Scheduled tweets can be dangerous," wrote @B2BMarketingVP.
